Post subject: Question about my dog..
PostPosted: Thu Feb 01, 2007 7:46 pm

Well, I've been wondering this for a while. I couldn't find the online test that I took a while ago.. So.. Do you think my dog is overweight?

She's 2 years old, about 36 inches [I THINK..think. I measured her not too long ago but forgot what it was.. and now I can't find my measuring tape. XD] from the bottom of her paw to the tip of her ear sitting down..

She weighs 46-47 pounds and from what I know, [Were not sure what breed she is so we're trusting the vets opinions along with the other people we ask] she's a pitbull rottweiler cross. I can feel her ribs but not by just touching her lightly. Seing the Science Diet commercial made me kinda worried about her..

I took some pictures of her standing up, you can see the difference between her chest and her stomach and some of her sitting down, you can see where her tummy 'tucks.' I think the pictures made her look fatter then she is but..oh well.

BTW, sorry for the bad quality of the pics.. and I should have brushed her before I took them. XD [She was just outside rolling in the snow for a while.]

Now I know that she has alot of muscle, she's very fast and strong. but that shouldn't change your opinions. XD

BTW, if she is overweight, I take full responsibility for letting my sister feed her scraps, and giving her a few myself. XD

and don't be afraid to be honest, I wont yell at you if you think she's fat.

Thanks for the [much needed] help :D

Your dog looks like a little sweetheart. She doesn't look overweight at all. I think people are too hung up on weight as a number anyway, as long as she's healthy and active, her actual weight shouldn't matter too much.

She looks normal to me. My rottweiler is about as big/skinny as that, but he is taller. She's cute, btw. She looks healthy, and yeah, I know people who said my friend's Labrador is too skinny - but he is near perfect weight for a Lab. (People are just used to looking at fat Labs )
Sorry for getting a tiny off topic. But she looks just fine to me.

Thanks, she is sweet. She wouldn't hurt a fly. XD And that's good to know, I don't really care about her appearence as much as her health. She's pretty active, she could play all day if only I were that active. XD

Yeah she's crossed with something else though, I still think she's pretty small [short] for her breed. I've only seen one lab that was actually "fat" here, the rest are like normal sized dogs. And thanks, I bet your dog's cute too. :D

Your dog is a normal size. That's about the same size as my dog. Just don't let her gain to much weight because it could effect her health.

Yeah I know. XD I cut down on her food intake 'cause she gets lots of treats during the day and because it has alot of calories. I try to take her for long walks everyday but lately walks have been weak because it's REALLY cold here. XD But there is some kids that live around here that take her for walks sometimes.. so I think she should be okay. XD

Yes, she looks about the average weight really. She's really pretty. <3333

Just keep feeding her the same amount and keep exercise at its highest. Dogs need to be fit as well as in good weight. :D

Aw thanks, she's pretty much the only pet who needs to be walked so whenever I have spare time I take her places, well when I'm not on the computer that is. XD
