Yes, another rant type thing on Fan Images by Maya. But, her faithful sidekick Tibby is here to assist in the rant. =]

Tibby and I quite frankly not pleased with all the fan images that are getting through by the mods. I just recently sent about 10 PM's to the Fan Art mods about fan images. OH, but that was just PM's. I saw at least TWICE as many images that should not be there. (But to save time I just mentioned in the PM that there is more than one image.)

Her and I take our time to look through the fan images, find ones that should not be there. Most of them were nothing bad, but something like they had nothing done to them except a crop or resize to a screenshot. And last time I had checked, that was NOT aloud.

And I would also like to mention, that no one has posted rules like they have for the fan art and such. And when you go to send fan images to the site, it says at the bottom to view the rules for FAN ART by clicking here (or something to that effect).

Now, I know the fan art mods have ALOT to do, BUT still. Some people (Like Drew for example) has more than one moderating job on the site. Yes, she is a very good mod, but with some much perhaps comes the things like missing something like a screenshot with nothing done to it.

Now, I must admit that BaltoSource is not as badly filled with these images as Lion King Source is. And yes, I know I have had alot to say about LionKing Source lately, but still. I sat and went through the images, and Tibby does to, and we sent 10 to 15 PM's to mods. And we feel bad that we must send so many, but if they were catching them, we wouldn't have too.

Now, Tibby and I are not saying to get more FAN ART mods, but maybe, as suggested before, get one or two fan image mods. I know this takes time to make mod powers and such, or what not, but Tibby and I feel that with what we do, why are we not fan image mods? I don't know who else sits there and goes through things because they are bored, and feel the need to find things that have gotten through.

So thus, ends out rant. I would also like to mention THAT WE ARE FREE TO RANT! AND IF YOU WISH TO FLAME US, GO AHEAD! We just would like to mention you KNOW that those images are getting in if you took the time to LOOK.

Yes.. I spent a long while one day on LKS looking through ALL of the Fan Images and there were a lot of screenshots and even a stolen one. I felt very bad at having to send more than 1 PM about it, but I was just doing some of what had to be done. I'm not by any means saying that the Fan Art mods need to be replaced, but as Maya had pointed out, it may be wise to get AT LEAST 2-3 mods for just Fan IMAGES. It would also probably help if there were specific rules just for them.

Tell ya what. I'm getting sick of the fan images too, but really, I've stopped caring too much because a fan image is basically a rendered screencap. When I have time, I will do a serious fan image cleanup. Hows that? :p

I don't know who is letting these 'images' in through the fan-image sectiong but it is annoying! I don't have time to go through each gallery and delete these pictures. But I am about ready too, fan-images should be graphics not things clipped together from the film and put into a collage or a random screenshot and correction Doby they are easy to delete. You just click the delete button.

No, I am not 'calling to be a mod'. I am saying that obviously these keep getting through, and I happen to sit and find them. Not being a mod is fine with me, I just feel bad for PMing people all the time.

And last time I checked, your not on the fan art staff list (but then again that is sometimes wrong). I just click on the imge, and go to the bottom and click to have it reported, and change the title. It RANDOMLY picks one of the THREE fan art mods, and thus from there I send a PM. I don't pick ONE of mods, it just randomly picks.

Indeed. I don't really like how people post those random collages. Although there are some that do look okay, as I was looking at one on LKS today. It was not just the square, or rectangle type, it has been molded together with a welder, persay. Thats how I saw it. And last time I had checked, random screenshots were having NOTHING done too them, and Steet had said something about something OTHER than just resizing or croping them. So, rules are being broken. (Although that is normal, I supose.)

Yeah, I understand there is a lot to do on the site. And dont you do it all in HTML..? And if it does I am sure its more than anything I know.. HTML is not really hard to understand, its just learning all the codes.

I wish I could help in some way to help get things done, but I really can't think of anything.

This site is not just coded in HTML its coded in various different types of coding, much harder then HTML CSS and other higher coding processes. HTML is for basic sites.

Yes. HTML is not a programming language, and making such a site with HTML is impossible : you need scripts. And for this, I use PHP with a MySQL database.
But well, this is not the topic.

I can change the rules, to say "screenshots sent with little or no modifications will not be accepted. " But it's no more an "everything or nothing" rule, and I've enough experience now to say that it's difficult to make such rules to work well...
I could still do it though. The mods would need to know this and check back all the galleries to delete such pictures.

There, I cleaned both fan image sections myself. Happy? XP And next time you guys see something thats not supposed to be there...try PMing a mod personally because something tells me that "report to mod" clickable doesn't work.

Already checked? All galleries? Well I know there are less than fanart galleries, but still...Good work then.

I could test this, although I don't see why it wouldn't work. Because it's only a private message. But well.

I believe PMing a mod DOES work. It just picks from Drew, Blue, or Sam(SRA).

And I KNOW it works because Drew has PMed me back on occasions saying she has taken care of it. So it SHOULD be working. And it only reports to the fan art mods that are listed on the staff page.
