Aww..

OMG!!! my dad told me that I just watched the video they had on msn. I'm so upset that he's gone. He will be missed. And he was a great race horse.

Blessed are you, Lord God,
maker of all living creatures.
On the fifth and sixth days of creation,
you called forth fish in the sea,
birds in the air and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all animals
his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless Barbaro
by the power of your love.
May he be welcomed into Your heavenly kingdom
where there is no mourning or pain or distress
but peace forever and ever.

for all your beauty in creation.

I think we can all say this short prayer for Barbaro and his owners in this their time of sorrow. If this manifestation of God is not one you care to share, feel free to offer prayers or condolences in a way that suits you.

that's sad that he died. He was such a champion...such a fighter.

This is so sad. I miss Barbaro, he was a good race horse.

Yes, I too feel sorry for him, undergoing the suffering for so long, but now he's fine, well in the minds of religious people who believe in afterlife. I cut every newspaper article about him out of the newspaper, up until the Preakness, when I looked at MSN for news about him. When he got better, I stopped looking at MSN for news about him and focused on other things. I haven't paid much attention to him until now. I just found out about Barbaro being put to sleep just a few hours ago.

Thank you, for complimenting the prayer. Actually, it is a blesing for pets and other animals, I simply added Barbaro's name and added the ending about welcoming him into heaven. Thank you anyway though, it is a rather nice blessing.

Barbaro was a race horse who was thought to be able to win the triple crown, however, he broke his leg during the Preekness and was unable (obviously) to compete. He has now passed away after suffering though complications associated with that break. Aparently, he was alert and happy until the end. It is doubtless that his owners truly cared about him and did everything reasonable to save him.
