I've wondered that too. I had to convert all my images to JPG so that I may upload them here. Maybe PNG takes up to much room?

Because JPEG formats aren't using so much space on the servers, tho the qualitty is bad;PNG is high qualitied but the size is a little big, sorta BMP.

Ah, so I was right. ^_^

PNG's not only take up more space but take a lot longer to load, and PNG is a dial up users nightmare.

It depends; I can add support for PNG, it's possible.
PNG images can take more space than JPG, but the opposite is also possible. It really depends on the images.
Well, I try to make the fanarts not too heavy, as of now there are 20 000 drawings on the site which makes 1 GB. It's already a big size.

But in fact, the main reason why I didn't add PNG was because it wasn't as much used as JPG (and GIF) when I began the site. Now, it's becoming more and more used, especially now that IE 7 supports transparency with PNG.
So I guess I'll add it in the future. I'll write it in my "to do" list...

A PNG format would be nice, but I'd usually just change my images to GIF format, since it's basically the same thing and it takes up less 'space' . PNG is also very vulnerable to theft mind you, it's easier to erase a copywrite or watermark with PNG formats because of the pitcure's sharpness.
