This is kind of a shocking news to me...DisneyToon in Sidney will close after their last project, Cinderella 3. They are responsible of the best animated Disney DTV sequels, including Return to Neverland, The Three Musketeers, Bambi and the Great Prince...They will be firing 300 persons. The reason is as always : money!

And the interesting thing, is that the next DTV sequels they will make will be made in cheaper animation studios, including...Cuckoos Nest Studio, which is exactly the animation studio who made the sequels to Balto!
But then, will they be able to make films for both Universal and Disney?

They probably will just focus on makeing films for just one either disney or universal, but if its a cheaper studio the animators will be different and so the sequels might start getting worse.

The animation will probably not be worse than the one in the Balto sequels, probably even better because Disney always use higher budgets. But it's sure that the films produced there will have a lower animation quality than the one produced in Australia...
Well this studio has a lot of animators, so it's still possible that they make films for the two companies. But this is not a good news for everyone wanting another Balto sequel, because it may be one reason to prevent Universal from making it. Well, it would also be interesting to see another sequel but made in a completly different studio, IMO...

At least it shows the non-interest for traditional animation by Disney...
It's still stupid to see the two rival companies sharing the same animation studio...

But even if the studio is not profitable for now, they could still keep it since they make benefits instead of firing 300 people...this is what I reproach them, not seeing that the time when every CGI film was a success is beyond us and that there will probably be more demand for traditional films in a near future. But no, 2D animation is more than secondary now for them...I will laugh the day they will see that they made an error by making everything CGI...
