I know a lot of people have been hacked lately, probably by people they know. I have noticed it has been becoming more of a problem lately, too. It may seem like a common sence thing, but for some reason people still give out their passwords. But it might be a very good idea that if you have EVER told ANYONE your password to change it. And keep it to yourself. It doesn't matter how good you think you know the person. Even people in real life that you know should never know your password. Passwords are for you and only you to know. NO ONE else.

The only person that knows everyones password is Steet,and if people are getting hacked because of the giving out of one's password,then it needs to come to a stop.

Actually, even Steet doesn't have access to the passwords. The only thing he can change is our profiles (username, email address, avatars, signatures etc...).

Well, if these people are dumb enough to give out their passwords, let them. Maybe the mods can somehow delete the account if you prove it's yours, and you can make a new one. I'm not sure though.

I haven't seen this happen on BS. A long long time ago I used to go to the dreaded (Q DRAMATIC BACKGROUND MUSIC!) 'neopets'. There it's always a problem, because you get this virtual money called 'neopoints'. I don't understand how someone could want this fake money so much to hack accounts,

Balto Source doesn't have too much potential for this because the only thing you would want is popularity. I bet the popular people take precatuations already like completely random passwords.

Here's a few tips:

If you give someone your password, CHANGE IT QUICKLY!

Chances are that the person who hacked you forgot to change the email address, so if they changed your password, email yourself a new password and they wont be able to get in.

These tips were well known on that one retarded site...I still can't beleive I actually went there...

EDIT: No, I think steet does have access to passwords. In my forum at least, you have complete power over everyone's information. The best thing to do is to ask him.

I did change my password.

One sure thing : no one has ever hacked the site itself. Otherwise, they would have used MY account, since it's the one with the most powers.

To be clear : I can change the passwords, but they are encrypted (MD5) in the database, so I don't see them in clear. However, NOT ALL SITES do encrypt the password. (the most famous ones do, of course) But be careful, it's a webmaster choice, and many don't even know how to encrypt passwords, so they could get your password without any problem.

Sometimes I had to change the passwords myself, because people had problems getting a new one (if they don't have a valid email address, for example) So in this case, I "know" the password since I'm the one who change it. I'm not going to use it anyway.

Important : seeing "*****" when you write your password DOES NOT mean that the passwords are encrypted...

no ofence to anyone but what kind of dumbo would tell their password to someone else. (not meaning to be rude)

I think it should be like this. If you give out your password it should be your fault as it was your responsibility to keep it safe (im not pointing the your at any one )
