Lots of people ask, only few get an answer.

Step one


Make sure that you are connected to the site, and scroll to the top of the page. Click the "edit your profile" button near your username and control panel.

Step two


Find an image that you would like to use, and copy the url (right click, "copy"). Make sure that the image is jpg.

Step three


Scroll down until this box comes into view, and paste the url there. (right click, "paste")

Step four


Click "update". You're done!

* Note* - If your avatar doesn't show up, make absolutely sure that the image is in jpg format. If it isn't, save it to your computer, open it into an editing program, and resave it as a jpg.

Heh...this is a lot less confusing then the one that I made...(what with visuals and all )...
Hopefully this will help diminsh(sp?) the people who ask for help to get one and to help people to get one...

Kari, did you make your avatar or get it from the internet? Cause it looks really cool!

it bothers me that on the normal site you HAVE to use jpg. i liked it better when you could use gif too. more of a selection of avatars to choose from.

You can still use GIF, by doing what Kari said in first post.
You only need to use JPG if you want to use the automatic process.

There have been changes since then...
First, you can upload avatars directly.
Second, the formats that are accepted are now : JPG, GIF and PNG.
I will close the topic as it has become unnecessary...
