This could sound stupid, but maybe it's not that stupid.
I have thought of the possibility of making a shout box specifically for older members who participate the most on the site. (registered > 6 months and 500 messages posted, for example)
This way, we could separate better the shout boxes into different categories.
I think many people here don't visit the shout boxes because they don't want to speak to "newbies".

What is your opinion?

Well, people who would have access to the "older members" shout box would be able to go to the regular one as well, and I wouldn't mention to the people who can't access it that it exists. But yes, that's a problem, I know.

Sadly I think its a good idea, by sadly I mean, I used to enjoy shout boxes, but newbies do ruin it, and I have been thrown into flame wars on the shout box and I got sick of them so I just left, at least with older members there is a better chance of having a nice conversation, sorry Claymore, but these days, sometimes I want to be away from the newbies.

Well newbies used to ruin a peacefull chat with their spamming or dorky questions..With this..I guess..hmmm It's good..

And the old members will be able to post in the Shoutbox for newbies?...But something is still missing..I guess the newbies' shoutbox will be a little...empty..because we might have new registered people...but stil not everyone is posting there(shoutbox)..

I don't know...But I still gave yes as my vote.

Of course, but it would still limit the number. I know that many newbies are making multiple accounts (for a reason I still can't understand), and by doing this, they would never achieve to have enough messages posted.
If it would be possible to know the age of the visitors, believe me that it would be the first criterion. Unfortunately it's not possible. (which is also a good thing in a way, because that's personal information)

I'm not a newbie..luckly..I can't give a strict oppinion ... Like a final word.

But this will be a little confusing...There are a lot of boxes arround..I guess that you guys might feel like "wild animals" captured in a box ..xD

Ugh be carefull with the posts XD as eg..for 400 posts you will be able to post on the old members` shoutbox..this might start a season of "spam"..people would be posting posts on the forums..which would include pointless !

I think it's a good idea. I do enjoy talking to newbies, but it's also very nice when a bunch of the older members of this site are able to all have a conversation without being intrupted.

That's what I planned to do, combine both. But in case I decide to make it, I need to find out the best values for the number of posts and months of registration.
