And what would be the good thing in doing that? The only problem is advertisement, it wouldn't change anything to make another similar story if they don't make any effort.

And to Disney: It sounds funny, but I think Disney is to proud to take the idea of another company.

I don't know if Disney would be so much interested, considering the big number of franchises they already have...
Anyway, I doubt it would possible, unless Universal would be bought by Disney or another company, which is not going to happen anytime soon...
Maybe a merge with another company...

Seeing the effort put into the other sequels, I don't think a fourth would be very good either. As for passing it on to another movie producer, I doubt Universal would do that. They'd lose a lot of money and a well-loved character that they created.
As Claymore said, they should make another movie about a dog hero. There wasn't just Balto after all.

? What would they lose, since they're not exploiting it anymore?

But it never would be a blockbuster...Unless Balto would gain a huge more popularity in little time, and we all know it's not going to happen anyday...

Yeah.. I suppose. But I don't think Universal would sell it. They seem reluctant enough to produce merchandise.
