Hairspray

I'm sorry if there's already a board on this, but I'm really excited for this summer's musical movie, Hairspray. Based on the hugly popular Tony-Award winning musical comes to life on the big screen July 20, 2007. I'm excited as i said.
This movie has an all-star cast that includes John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Brittany Snow, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron (grr...), and introducing, in her film debut, Nicole Blonsky!

What are your thoughts about this project. it can be bad, or good. But i just don't want a flame war starting...especially over Zac. I get enough of that on imdb, thanks.

no, it's not. and thank god for that, it's based off the msuical which was based off the movie, kinda like The Producers in a way.

Also, another thing. I would definatly watch the 1988 version of the film before it was a musical (the film was pointed out by {Meeko}). It's hilarious and just overall a great film!

Well, the musical was based off the film, so techincally it's not a remake...BUT it has the same plot line and chracters and just has some songs

And Zac will never beat Micheal St. Gerard (1988 movie) OR Matthew Morrison (Original Broadway Link), they are just too good.

And in case anybody wants to hear a little bit of "Ladie's Choice" it was on TRL and it's on YouTube, just type in 'Hairspray' and it's about 1:05 in.

Also, there are rumors that the popular song' Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now' HAS been cut and that two new sons were placed in:
-Link's rock n' roll number, "Ladie's Choice"
-Tracy's ballad, recently titled 'I Can Wait' in place of 'Good Morning Baltimore (Reprise)'

There is also another greta fan site who...like me has a gift for googling! Check the sit out, it's definatly worth seeing if you want to know about the movie before July!

Hello, me again asking you all to catch the 'Ugly Betty' tonight as there is 'HAIRSPRAY' being mentioned and even a bit of 'Good Morning Baltimore' being sung by one of the chracters.
