Well my dad started this barrking howl and a coyote replied. He did it again and a coyote replied again. I tried I think it replied my howl was a Balto howl. I started getting freaked out and got into the car. My dad did one last howl and the coyote howled again. I thought it was amazing!

My dogs will sometimes howl when they're outside, and I've heard coyotes reply on several occasions. It can be scary at night, especially when you're outside as well!

Well, yes, typically when one creature (In this cae your Dad  ) howls, Coyotes are the first to answer. Coyotes and wolves both return howls frequesntly, and it is quite fun. I've done this before, I was on one side of a valley, there was a road down below me, and on the other end were some coyotes. My Mom was talking to someone, and I was howling with the coyotes for a while - it's SO much fun, you feel almost like one of them! Coyotes susually howl differently than wolves - like you stated it was a "Bark howl," sort of thing, where wolves do bark as well, their howls are usually quite solid whie coyotes' drift off into emmitting barks. Sadly: I live where there are no wolves or coyotes, this was done on a vacation. But yes: It can be a very fun, rewarding, and enjoyable experience as well as a frightening one. I personally found it incredibly amazing and fun... I've done this a few times, but the one time mentioned above is the only time I can recall clearly enough.

That sounds neat, there's no wolves around where I live and they don't have any at the Zoo either.

Only time I have heard one howling is on the internet..

But I have heard my dog howl before, at least I think it was a howl..might have just been her crying..Hmm. I don't know. XD
