hmmm...I hope to see it soon...
I have a strange premanition that it'll suck (no offence, but I don't like the guy who plays Eragon, but that's just me)
And sadly, I'm probaly right...oh well the book and the sequel are still awesome. But hey it may turn out that it's good, I'll just have to find out
Oh and Jeremy Irons (you know, Scar in TLK) is Brom, so hopefully he's good here
Well, that's just me...(note: I'm obsessive about the differences between a movie and the original book. Unfortunently, it's ni impossible for them to be the same. Believe me, I got real mad at the Goblet of Fire)

If they make the movie the same as the book, what's the point of making a movie?

(I think that's the philosophy of most directors who make books into movies)

Well I can say it was a good movie but it sucked in the fact that it did not stick to the book. They also made the chracters diffrent from what they were in the books and stuff like that. Also I would have thought that a dragon would have a deeper voice insted of soundiog like some southern bell. Sorry for slamming the movie but I do it all the time to movies mad from books.

That's true, and the fact that they don't want to make a movie too long, because with the millions of dollars actors are paid, they don't want to spend like a year filming a movie, since there's going to be mistakes and stuff like that, along with weather issues that are unforseen. Lord of the Rings stayed pretty close to the plot of the book, but of course, not entirely. Eragon, however, was not really like the book. It skipped a lot of scenes and changed a lot of things. For example, I don't recall Roran leaving the town in the book, because he has to be there for the next book... so after I saw the movie, I asked myself "how are they going to make the sequel anything like the book with all these things changed?" They even left out a couple characters that are sort of important to the sequel as well.

Anyway, I saw the movie yesterday (see my dA journal why it took me so long to see it), and I did think it was awesome, despite how different it was to the book. The only problem I had with it was the song that they played during the credits... the only part of that song that went with the movie was the lyrics. The instruments were like, electric guitars and modern drumsets... my friend thought it was by Cheryl Crow, but I think that whoever was in charge of the movie's soundtrack was falling asleep or something when he chose this song...

Just came back from seeing the movie, and to tell you the truth I was dissapointed  So much was cut from the movie (like remember Solembum(sp), where'd he go?). Also, everything seems to happen differently. Some Major Characters are either cut or shortened to minor characters. Also, it seemed entirly sped up. Though, I don't know. I went with my dad and he, despite having never read the book, liked it. Also, I want to beat up Eragon throughout the whole movie. Lord of the Rings was much better. Oh well...

Yeah, I kind of felt that way too... especially when he tells Saphira to leave when he finds his father dead in the house...

I personally think the movie was good, but I agree it would have been better if

1. It followed the book more
2. It wasn't as short as it was. I thought it was at least 2 hours, but I was shocked when I looked it up online and saw it was slightly more than 1:30!
3. The battle at the end was better and more Lord of the Rings like
4. The part where Eragon was in the place inside the mountain was longer than it was. I mean, in the book, Eragon was there for at least a month! In the movie he was there for a day or two before the urgals started to attack!

I also agree with Martin that Lord of the Rings was better, but the only, single thing in Eragon that I liked more than Lord of the Rings was how dragons in Eragon were shown more as good than evil, as they were in Lord of the Rings. But that's it. Everything else about Lord of the Rings beats their counterparts in Eragon.

The whole movie seemed to be set for three days...and wow...I'm reading the IMDb reviews for Eragon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449010/usercomments?start=0)
There are a lot people who didn't like it...

You're right... here is a snippit of the first comment:

Quote:
Most of the characters here seem like rejects from other films and it shows by how unoriginal they were. The only performance in the film that has any credibility what so ever is the dragon Saphira and that's mainly because she is voiced by Oscar winning actress Rachel Weisz, who has more talent in her vocal cords than all the actors working in this film combined.

Ouch... I thought that Saphira's voice was amazingly done, but I didn't think that acting was that bad... I mean, yes, the entire movie in general could have been better, but I didn't think it was that bad... but we all have our own opinions, don't we?

The acting was not bad at all. I think that some, including myself was expecting something more like Lord of the Rings, because it HAD the potential to be s great movie considering all of the technology we have now. But as Swords of the Wolves stated earlier they would have had to pay the actors more and all the filming. I was really disappointed with Murthag though. He was my favorite character in the book but in the movie they made him a stocker! I am sorry to say but the character that they stuck to most was Galbatorics and he was hardly in the book at all.
