Okay. Right now i'm playing FF9 and i'm in the battle with Hilgigars. I know i've played the game and managed to steal the Fairy Flute before but now he just won't cough it up! I have Zidane equipped with Bandit, Mug and armor that increases his Spirit (I think Spirit has something to do with stealing rate). I have Eiko cast Haste on him whenever it wears off only to give him more chances to steal. I'm having Vivi use Hi-Potions and Dagger cast Cure and Cura to help out wounded characters but I have to use Ethers occasionally. How long will it take before I manage to steal the darned thing?
BTW, I don't have Master Theif for Zidane yet because only the Theif Gloves teach that and I couldn't find them at the Treno Auction in Disk 2.

I'd suggest looking up stuff at gamefaqs.com, I belive there's a guide to stealing on there.
