I have been thinking about this for some time now, and I can not understand it, try and try as I may, I just cannot find out the answer. Why is it, that being Emo is considered cool by so many people? The year above us in my school are about 78% emo. They have the hair, the clothes, the attitude and some even go all the way and slit their wrists. And I ask you why? Why is it cool to pretend the world hates you, and that your life is horrible. Yes poor you with your fresh food, clean water and decent schools. How life treats you so codly, you have it so rough compared to the children growing up in a third world country. People have told me that some Emos do not hate life and only listen to the music, well that is not Emo, that is a bad sense in music and hair style.

People say I am cruel to Emos and unfair, well I am very tired of hearing them whine about their lives which some would kill to even have fresh water. I ask you how you can think your life is misreable? I doubt anyone here is poor, since you have enough money for a computer and intrenet. So I ask you, who agrees that being Emo is a waste of time? And who has an objection, tell me now.

You know.. A gang of Emo's are gonna come beat the crap outta you. XD... If you think being Emo is a waste of time, sure, thats YOUR opinion. Which, I could say is retarted. Because.. I could say its a waste of time to be YOU. =].. How nice is that?

I, myself, am Emo. Being Emo rawks. I wouldn't want to change. And, well, as for the 'cutting' ones self, its a relese of pain. How? You may ask. Well, the things that go on in our lifes her EMOTIONALLY. I would rather drink that dirty water, and be starving than feel emotional pain. Physical pain, pshhh. Eventually, it will go away. But alot of emotional pain never does. And cutting your wrist, does help. I know.

And, for your FYI.. We dont think the world hates us. It does hate us. =]... Because everyones interpurtation of 'the world' is different. I am LOVED by many people no matter WHAT I say to them. And that is like.. worse than being rejected!.. I hate the acceptance. And.. they are all losers anyways. Once again, emotional. If they wanted to beat me up insted of being head over heals for me.. thats cool. My school sucks.

If you EVER think of wanting to be loved insted of being rejected.. Dont. Its the biggest mistake. Now, I have to be the biggest... umm.. 'female dog' to get my point across. No matter what I do, nothing goes right. 'The world' hates me. =]...

I put the emo in emotional.

Oh, and one last FYI... if seeing your mom beat by your whatever (step-father, mom's boyfriend, dad..) is better than drinking dirty water.. let me know.

Emos depress me so much! I always wish some of them could have a better life! I'm almost always happy and upbeat, and I love my personality so much. Emo is just so dark and depressing I can hardly take it! Which is why I pray for them (and other people) every night.

Emo doesn't even deserve to be capitalized. Like Adam and Andrew said, it is just a "bad, cheap immitation of goth." I dont care if I'm "bashing emo kids" "EMO" does not even deserve to exist. Technically it doesn't. You're either punk or goth. You can't be both. If you love life, you're not emo. If you like ANYTHING other than attention, you're not emo. Just because you dress in clothes from both Hot Topic and Limited Too, doesn't mean you're emo. Just because you dye your hair in something unnatural, you're not emo.

You're just presenting yourself as something people THINK is cool, when in reality, you look like a hermaphrodite and acting like "Not-so-Happy Sunshine". I don't care if you think its a "good look" for you. No matter what, it looks stupid. And no, its not based on opinion. It is based on reality. "being emo" does not make you "cool." Writing poetry in a LiveJournal is not "cool" You're just secretly exposing inner thoughts in a hypocritical way. Saying you're gonna commit suicide and "the world hates you" does NOT make you "cool." It does not earn you friends. It does not earn you pity. If you're GOING TO...no one HERE will really care. No one. They SAY they do. But they don't. They're gonna forget about you! Its sad, but its true! Besides, everyone knows you're full of crap anyway, so maybe THAT'S why the "world hates you."

Besides, if the "world hated you" why would "emo" be "considered cool"? It makes no sense. All of you "emo kids" are just full of BS. And deep down, you know it, so you ay as well stop dressing like a clown/mime hybrid, stop acting like your puppy just died, and start acting like a fricken human being.

By the way, your depression is contagious. I'm depressed that people love being "emo".

And also, its called "emotional." If you're going to speak the english language, use it correctly.

Emo is emotional and that is all, goth and witch craft are completely diffrent because they are a science of the spirt world and thats all, someone who cries at a sad movie is emo short for emotional, this slitting your wrists is all on your own free will and stupidity, you cut your wrists, thats your fault, not because you put the word emo in it, emo is emotional, not sliting wrist syndrom, so don't bother saying your emo because you slit your wrists, your just being stupid to chose that way of releving pain, and is too lazy to find another way, or your just fasinated seeing your blood run, and that is an interest, so don't use the saying emo, it's absolutly incorrect way of saying those symtoms.

Cutting your wrists because your depressed is also not emo, it's because your depressed, and the reasion you maybe depressed is stuff that happends around you, not emo, this this whole emo saying crap is just crap, and you chose to do that all on your own, not for being emo for all it is is emotional.

Goth is dark, you dress gothic cool, your a poser of gothic if you don't join the socity, so don't mix the two up because 1 they are completely diffrent and 2 the saying emo is not really a saying for that sort of crap in the first place, so if you cut your wrists because you think your emo, go get help realsing what your actully doing and saying, because what you have in your mind at that time is completely mixed up.....

I thought of a couple emo jokes:

Lol! But in all honesty, I won't bother emo kids unless they bother me. Usually I mind my own business and ignore them. I think that's the best thing to do. I've seen a couple emo-looking boys at my school (One of which is in one of my classes) and they hardly ever speak to me, so I just go about my business and don't start any fights.

Emo is not supposed to be goth! emo is a type of fashion like every person in my school is trying to be like. emo's wasent supposed to be sliting there rists thats goth!

Actually, that's self-infliction. "Goth" is just a subculture that's lasted for.....CENTURIES longer than...."emo" and is basically just a tendency towards a "dark" outlook.

EDITED: "Emo" is basically a fake label. Like one of those discount signs you see outside of a restaurant, when it was merely because they forgot to remove it from sight. You see that whatever they're advertising is a decent price, but then you soon realize that once you walk inside that its more expensive and ridiculously-priced than it should be. As far as "labels" go, the only real ones (to me and most people) are Prep, Jock, Nerd, and Trash, but if you want "sub-labels" you can then get into Punk and Goth (which can really fall under any category depending on how you look at things.)

That is probably true, but people don't hate you for no reason, people hate you [or all emo people] for being emo.

No offence, but to everyone who is emo here, try growing up in somebody elses life. Somebody who, like Roxas said, lives in a 3rd world country, with no clean water, no food & no medicine.

But I also think that some of the people here who aren't emo should try living the life of an emo.

I don't know why anybody here is, or would want to be, emo. I don't know what's going on in your life or anything like that, but I have a pretty bad life myself. I wont go into that because it will make it sound like I'm complaining, or looking for attention when I'm clearly not. But the point is, that I'm not emo, nor do I want to be. Those kids in countries like Africa seem pretty happy when somebody sends them a bottle of water.

And no, there mothers might not get beaten by their fathers, but they get worse. They get diseases from drinking water, they get beaten, raped, and get stuck with a 30-year-old's kid when their only 12.

They don't go to school. Think how sad that is, most people here complain about how much they hate school, and those kids would die to go to school.

Just think about it, and it may not seem sad to you, but in reality, it is.

Besides, there are better ways to get rid of stress/sadness, like punching holes in your wall, or get a punching bag. It works for most people.

lol the world hates you is one of the most retarded things or lines you could ever think, one you do not know everyone on this earth, there for not all the world hates you, and well since you belive that your beliifes are easly manafested into your reality, you belive something, you begin to live it or see it, you belive everyone hates you, people around you will feel that belife and begin to hate you, it's odd to explain, but others react on what you belive but in your way, so basicly, suck it up and stop being a cry baby over it, you created that, you can live with it, or break it and make a new.

Emo fashion lol thats completely stupid, cheap knock off and poser of goth basicly, and thats well, if your going to be dark or light in that way, be goth, not some make belive knock off, it insults people who are goth but who also are wiccan, and im not suprized if many people who say they are emo get there A** kicked by many especialy gothics or wiccans, it's like taking something and creating it over agian but much much worse and pethetic and draging the original threw the dirt with what you have created^^

I don't like Emos because of a rather bad expirience. One of them thought that I was making fun of them and one of their rocker friends who knew me tipped me off. Basically, they wanted to jump me at night after I got home and stab me to death. The day that they intended to do it, they didn't know that I had received my AR15 from the gunsmith that day and went to shoot it. I pulled the case out from behind my seat, and looked over to see one of the guys that was after me walking towards the park across the street rather quickly, then I never saw those people again...

True story.

To me, many of that emo thingies are just followers, who want attention. I say MANY, not all, because I bet there are some emos who take it as serious.
Yeah, maybe life sucks for some ppl, and they are depressed abou that... but i BET, many of those emos are just followers, because they want attention.

Well hey...God life is sucky yea I mean I really am not emo but I don't like life either.

But...I'm not emo am I? No. You can hate life but you odn't have to say you're emo. And as for releasing emotional pain my friend does that true stories people:

In class, at home, anywhere if she gets miffed she will either claw at her arm or bite herself. She tells me it doesn't hurt, and it just leaves a bruise when she bite herself.
And then she kept saying she was emo so I got mad. Shr called me same day saiid she was gonna kill herself cause she had nothing left.
I didn't believe her.
A day went by and when I got ohme ofmr school her parentrs called me and they said that night she'd took a knife and lsit her wrist.

Now I think it's stupid to say such things. I still don't like life but I have a better outlook on it than she did. Emo is like a subspeicies or something for goth. But really, Roxas is right, most of us have it better than like people in Kenya for example...
