This came on last night on the National Geiographic channel. It's a two hour program about the fetal development of a dolphin, an elephant, and a dog. From just a few cells to an entire organism. It was very interesting. They said a few facts that arn't suited for this site but were interesting enough. The program wasn't entirely about mating so don't get the idea that it's some gross show for perverts.
It used computer graphic programming and 4D images to give you a close up look at how animals develop while still inside their mothers. I had found the 1 hour program of the development of a human baby interesting when i watched it back in August. So, naturally i was curious if animals developed the same. The answer turned out to be no.
Because animals develop their intestinal organs so early, they are too small for the organs to fit inside them so they are acctually grown outside their bodies and are later moved into the fetus when they have developed enough. There were alot of interesting things like that throughout the entire two hours. One of which is dolphins grow legs in the early stages of its development. But they dissapear soon after their appearance. Also dolphins create a new skin every two weeks. This is what keeps their skin smooth.
While a human is pregnant for 9 months, an elephant is pregnant for 22 months and a dolphin is pregnant for 12 months. A dog is only pregnant for 65 days.

Lol, it's still in Other. XD
My mom and sister were watching that, or something like that. They kept on telling me to come and watch but it didn't sound interesting.
But now it kind of does. XD

Heh, did you know Dolphins never sleep? Unlike us humans, we are involuntary breathers which means we will continue to breath even while unconsious. Dolphins however are voluntary breathers. They have to make a concious decision breath.
Unconcious Dolphins drown.

How? It doesn't premiere until January 14th?
Anyway, another little fact that came from this that i remembered:
Dolphins never sleep. Unlike us humans, we're involuntary breathers. Which means we'll breath even while unconsious. Dolphins however have to make a concious decision to breath. Unconsious Dolphins often die.
