Okay I really feel like ranting I know it has notthing to do with the site but I want to see what you think.
Since I was little I have been a big disney fan I loved all the wonderful movies (the classics) they used to make. Well I´m not going to rant much about how the disney company isn´t coming up with good ideas anymore though I should maybe. No I´m going to rant about why is disney going into 3D instead of 2D I hate it okay some 3D movies can be good but none of them can beat a good 2D I mean you see all the effort that they put in the 2D how it inspired many people to start drawing. But now the disney company has closed down yet another 2D Departments to make room for a 3D. I’m sad over this I mean not all 2D where perfect but still they were so beautiful to look at. I always dreamt about being an animator drawing master pieces like Lion king, The little mermaid, Aladdin, Fox and the Hound and many more. But what would Walt Disney say about all this I think he would never let Disney go so low into all the sequel and changing from 2D to 3D!
Now I really want to hear what other people think about this decision of Disney.
(And sorry mods if I can´t rant about this on the rant board you can put it somewhere else)

When I read your topic Cat about The little mermaid 3 I was so angry at disney but just few days ago when I heard about this I was shocked that the disney company was going to do this. Maybe 3D is cheaper but the 2d was put so much effort in you just had to love it.

I, seriously, see absoloutely nothing wrong with 3-D animation!!! Apart from WQ(bleah), 3-D animation is sparkly and beautiful, and makes the films look alot more modern and beautiful. Aprt from Balto and The Lion King, they're gorgeously animated with 2-D animation
Think about the film Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure. That film has got the best animation in the histroy of the world, after The Lion King. The animation is very near almost perfect, but I've spotted one or two of the most unnoticeable bloopers, being as observant as I am
I don't see what your ranting about, to be honest. The only animated film which has disgusting 3-D animation is Wolf Quest
That's my opinion. Can't accept it??? That's your problem!

I don´t think you get what 3D is. 3D are film like cars and monster inc. Lady and the Tramp 2 and Wolf Quest are all 2D

Agreed. I hate it, hate it, and hate it. I do, really I do!
It's ugly, horrible, and cheap.
=) Endofstory.

Ahhhhhh, now I see. WQ does have 3-D animation though.
But I love 3-D animation! Soooo much effort is put into it, making everything look sooo close to real! Especially Shrek and Shrek 2! DreamWorks SGI and Disney Pixar put soooo much effort into these films; adding everything, to make them look as realistic as possible!!! From clothes, to water, to fur...UHHHH I LOVE 3-D animation! I prefer it to 2-D actually xD
I don't know why everyone hates 3-D animation. Alot more effort is put into it then 2-D. Artists and Animators do it all on the comp, which just shows how genius Mankind is becoming ^_^

I don't like 3D films at all, I've never had, since the very first (I've never liked Toy Story even when it was released)
The problem is not so much the technic but the stories. To me they have NOTHING to do with the 2D animated films from Disney and the others. They are just crappy full-of-stupid-jokes films with a very little story in background.
But the problem is not Disney alone, it's the whole industry. Almost all companies make 3D films and have abandoned 2D. Why? Because it's much cheaper to make, and so they make more benefits from it. It's that simple...money, as usual.
There is the same problem with the video games : try to find 2D games nowadays...except on portable consoles, it's impossible. Recently I've got an exception though : Runaway 2 on PC, a 2D adventure game released this year. I've never seen such a beautiful 2D game, and I know it will be as much beautiful in many years.
Because 2D doesn't get old, unlike 3D. A shame that this industry don't realize this.

I agree with you.
And to Daisy the animatiors work harder on 2D animation because they have to draw every scene and colour it but using computer technology in 3D they don´t have to draw every scene because the computer makes it capable to use the same figure and just move it around on the computer screen. And Wolf quest did not have 3D in it
Edit:
Keara all those movies you talk about are 2D because they are all drawn but not just made in the computer (ím not sure how to explain the diffrents anybetter )
