Post subject: Very distressing news for Alaska
PostPosted: Fri Dec 08, 2006 3:40 pm

Folks, take a look at this, and tell me you're not deeply concerned! I know I am! And now I KNOW I am going to have to try to get to Alaska more than once! Because my original plan to visit Nome is going to occur in the summer or early fall (next year, I hope). In any case, this article, which I literally stumbled upon, really has me concerned...

That's horrible news, but what can we do about it? I am not trying to sound carless, but I don't know what to do.

Littering the earth, while bad, has absolutely NOTHING to do with this, Brianna. Did you even read the article? Let's stay on topic, and not turn this into some "green" political morass. Thank you.

Horrible, yes.
Disastrous, maybe.
But scientist may have found more pieces to the puzzle in the year they had between the writing of the article and today.

The article was written on December 27, 2005.

Well I read at least half. There reallly isint anything we can do to keep it from drifting farther and farther away. I don't know anyone who can stop a continanal drift( NO ONE CAN IN THIS CASE!) Unless people realize Alaska is drifting. Bring on the horse and buggie, to decrease the amount of polotion and other things in the earth. People can't stop Alaska from drifting but we can stop global warming. Also don't forget it could have something to to with tectonic pates. They are allways pushing and pulling.
Don't forget southern Califournia could be a island in a 100 years or more.

I don't like this global warming thing either, but I'm not about to give up my truck for something that requires maintenance 24 hours a day, and ends up getting poo all over my boots when I try to walk to somewhere. That was one of the main reasons that automobile replaced horse and buggy.

What's going on now is probably a thing that nature does every few thousand years, no body really knows. It does suck though, hopefully some day I'll see the Aurora.

You know you only run about 1 mabe 2 hrs of gas in your car, while your house is on many more hours and polutes more. So focus more on the homes then the cars, and we may see some impacts.

Also Global warming could have to do more with our sun then what we're doing. Sun spots controle how much heat we get because of Solar Prominances and solar flares witch come at our earth and heat it up.
The more sun spots the hotter Earth is the less the colder we are. There was a "Little Ice Age" in Europe in the 1600's because of the lack of sun spots.

 Man, this is totally not good. How can Alaska be...well, Alaska, without the lights? This can't happen! Let's just hope that it the magnetic north pole will reverse itself and go back again. I'm hoping to go to Alaska sometime next year too (unfortunately, I won't be going to Nome  ) so this really makes me want to go there now. I am just....completely and utterly saddened by this.
