HI! I had an idea. I wanted peoples opinion of the N64. Here is a list of the specs.

Processor: 93.75 MHz NEC VR4300 (info), based on MIPS R4300i-series 64-bit RISC CPU (image)
L1 cache: 24 KiB (split: 16 KiB instruction, 8 KiB data). No L2 cache.
Buses: 32-bit address and data.
CPU to RCP Bandwidth: 250 MiB/s (non-DMA). CPU cannot directly access RAM.

5-stage scalar pipeline. Integrated FPU. 93 million operations per second.
4.6 million transistors
Manufactured by NEC using 0.35 µm process.
RAM: 4 MiB RDRAM (image) (upgradeable to 8 MiB with 4 MiB Expansion Pak)
Data path: 9-bit width at 500 MHz
Potential Memory Bandwidth: 562.5 MiB/s
≅640 ns RAM latency
Graphics: SGI 62.5 MHz 64-bit RCP (Reality Coprocessor) (image) contains two sub-processors:
RSP (Reality Signal Processor) controls 3D graphics and sound functions
MIPS R4000-based 8-bit integer vector processor

Tell me how you feel about the specs, and about your own expreiences with it.

Personally, i have had some good experiences with the n64. sure, its hardware isnt the best, the RAM is too slow, and the graphics arent the best, but the games are excellent. my personal favorite is Perfect Dark

yeah. $25 per cartridge production, vs. 10cents for a CD-ROM. I just wish nintendo had been a little smarter with the hardware. The CPU should have been able to directly access the RAM, the RAM should have stuck with low latency SDRAM vs. the ultra high latency RDRAM, the graphics should have had more than 4kb texture cache, which would have helped the graphics extremely.

i really liked My n64, it was the console with more convincent First person shooters like Golden eye or Perfect dark (my favorites). Oh such good times with that multiplayer lol the cartdrige itself could make you buy the console just for it.

I think it was really good thanks to makes like those or zelda, or any other nintendo designed. but apparently PSX had more popularity, was cheaper and had more variety.

I lookede up a thing on wikipedia. I found out that the nintendo 64 was origionally called the Nintendo Ultra 64, but the ultra was dropped due to a copyright to Konami. The project code name was Project reality, becasue some in nintenod beleived that the new system (64) could produce graphics and performance on par with the supercomputers of the time. interesting no?

In it's day the N64 was one of those kicken' systems. It's just a heap of plastic compared to systems now, but look how old it is. Lol

There was one game, I think it was called MRC, it was a racing game. I used to love playing that game.

to me it has better performance and graphics than the PS1. But i never really played the PS1. If nintendo had been a little smarter with the system, it could have done much better.

Great system for me only because of these games:

007 Golden Eye.

Perfect Dark.

Zelda Orcarina of Time.

Resident Evil 2.

those are so the best and only games that were good for that system, the controlls sucked, the shape of the congtroller was completely crap, if it wasn't for those games I would have smashed mine right at the store^^
