Oooh... I must show you this;

It's a page from the 'Your Dog' magazine that we get here in Britain. Anyway, someone wrote in about their dog, Cain...
"Q: I own a brown wolf-like dog called Cain. I am trying to find out more about him. He's a rescue dog, so we don't know anything about his background. We've had him for over 6 years and we think he must be about eight. He's the sweetest tempered dog I have ever come across and he loves being with human. People are always asking what breed he is. From browsing through various dog encyclopedias we think he might be something like a
Czech or Sarloos Wolfhound. Several people have offered suggestions about possible ancestors including huskies, timber wolves, german shepherds and so on but nothing really seems to fit. I was hoping that you might be able to give me some idea of what he is and (if possible) where we could find other similar dogs (we'd love a pup!).
A: Breeds expert Andrew Brace advises: I must admit taht Cain does bear an uncanny resemblance to a Sarloos Wolfhound, though if he is, it would be a remarkable coincidence. The chances are taht he is a dog of mixed ancestry who just hapens to resemble the breed. The breed's founder, who name was Saarloos, first crossed a feamle European Wolf with a German Shepherd male in an attempt to produce a breed that had stamina and endurance coupled with the quick reactions of a wolf. He embarked on a lengthy and controlled breeding programme around 1930 but he diedin 1969, six years before the Dutch Kennel Club officially recognized the breed. The Czech Wolfdog tends to resemble the GSD as it is the result of crossing that breed with the Carpathian Wolf. To my knowledge, there are no pure-bred Sarloos Wolfhounds in the UK, yet the breed has a devoted following in central Europe and some Scandinavian breeders have been keen to become involved too. Several breeders can be contacted via the internet. "
Ok, but it's pretty close.

Cain looks like a really beautiful dog. Just thought I'd give a little info to all those people who love wolfdogs. I'd love to own a Czech Wolfdog.
