This might seem to be pretty random, but I thought this might be a bit interesting. My question is: How many of you have been in car accidents before, whether it was your fault or not? The reason I'm asking this is because today when my mom was driving me home from school, someone (it looked like a young teenager who probably just got her license) rear-ended our car when we were stopped at a red light. That made me think of how many accidents there are, and how many involved teens, like the one that hit my mom's car today. Also, before anyone asks, me and my mom are perfectly fine. We're just a bit shaken up, nothing bad.

I got into one at Ireland, but my friends were in a bad one by our school. The bad part was, I watched it. I was waiting for them to come back and someone hit the car's side. Both of them were taken to the hospital and I wouldn't go near that corner for about 6 monthes.

I've been in a few accidents, only a few were my fault

1st : Rolled my first car three times
2nd (new vehicle) : backed into a pole, minor dent and scratches
3rd:got rearended by a guy who's tires couldn't get traction when he was braking
4th: ricer tried doing donuts in his Civic and ended up losing control and rammed into my truck while it was parked. (minor bend in left side of bumper)
5th:rubbed a rock retaining wall with my bumper trying to turn around (paint got scraped off)
6th: backed into a tree one day when I was too exhausted (minor dent in tailgate)
7th: took my eyes off the road to check a blind spot to change lanes, coasted into another car at 5mph, both vehicles were undamaged

Sounds like alot...but most are so insignifigant they shouldn't even be worth talking about, but that's what my truck has endured for impacts since I've owned it, all cosmetic.

One... I wasn't driving though...

I was at Tennis camp in this place by the border of Indiana and Kentucky, and I was in the back seat of one of those trucks that have four wheels in the back (It was super-old, mind you) and the bed was full of groceries, and there was an eldery woman driving (The person who ran the camp, which was pretty small. She was about, um... between 65 and 70, I think...) and this kid who she was dropping off at his house which was in the area, and two dogs, one in the front, who was kind of old, the other in the back, who was about two years old, German Shepherd mix, if you want to know. Anyway, this kid's house was along some small interstate highway, you know, the ones that have two lanes, one going one way, one going the other? So, the woman tried to get the truck to turn into the house's driveway, after being convinced by the kid that the truck could make it, who said that his dad had a similar truck and he's able to make the turn. Well, we found out a bit too late that the old truck couldn't make the turn, (not a good enough turning radius) and the woman stopped the car, realizing that.

Here comes the bad part:
The woman looked out to the oncoming traffic lane and sees a semi tractor-trailer coming at us in that lane. She pulls into the ditch anyway, knowing that the semi is coming too fast and the truck I was in couldn't accelerate fast enough to get out of the situation. Well, I'm in the back seat like I said before, and somehow my eyes were glued to what was happening outside the window, being the semi hitting the truck. The semi, judging by the skidmarks, tried to swerve out of the way, but didn't have enough room or something, and hit the truck on the rear right quarter panel anyway. Well, semis can't stop too fast when they're going highway speeds, so the semi hit us pretty hard. I did have my head turned, watching what was happening outside my window, and when the semi hit, my head jerked forward and the top of my forehead hit that part of the door above the window. Man, I can't even remember how much it hurt, but I know it did... I screamed out the F word pretty loudly, but, I don't remember what happened after that until the driver of the truck came to my door, opened it, and got a wet washcloth or something like that on my forehead, because I was bleeding like crazy. That went on for a while, and I don't know how long it was until the ambulances came, but two did, along with a couple cop cars. I went into one of the ambulances and they asked me a couple questions about if I could remember the accident or if I felt a certain way in the head and stuff like that, and they had me try calling my parents with their phone, but it was like, 1 AM or something so they didn't answer. They asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital, as the woman running the camp was saying stuff like "No, he's not going to the hospital!" or somthing to that effect. I said no, because I was feeling less disoriented and fine. I could still remember things, and stuff. I didn't feel like I needed to go there, and if I really did need to go there, I figured that the paramedics would have taken me there without asking me anything... Well, anyway, they put a couple bandages on the place where I was hit and covered both of them up with one of those large, square bandages, and I walked out.

The truck was totaled, right rear fender ripped off, rear axle bent, and of course, a bent frame.

Most of the groceries that were in the bed were scattered all over the road, I only remember picking up some soda cases with soda cans that were suddenly only half full or ripped open.

The woman driving got an injury to her right wrist and forearm, but nothing too serious.

The kid, I don't know, but I think he was pretty fine physically.

The dogs, well, they were both fine physically, just the one in the back with me was a nervous wreck and the old one in the front was acting like nothing happened.

I was perfectly fine mentally and physically. Only thing is that I have this small, lightning bolt shaped scar on the top left part of my forehead. (No, it's nothing like Harry Potter's scar. It's shaped more like a realistic lightning bolt, and it starts at my hairline, and it's actually really difficult to see. It's mostly skin tone in color)

I haven't been involved in one personally, but my mum has. That was during a bad time for our family. Before my parents got divorced. She was with another guy at the time... that my dad didn't know about... I suppose you could call it fate.

I haven't...only one serious accident has happened in my family within the past few years. Not too long of a story...my dad went out to a bar one night, got drunk, and totaled our van by running into a parked car. (I can't remember how badly the other car was damaged...) Then he was taken to the hospital, where they discovered by X-ray that he had a brain tumor...but that's another story.

Yeah, it wasn't the greatest time for my family. This was the summer between fourth and fifth grade, so I was about 10.

Oh gosh.. that's horrible.. I don't think my mum was drunk at the time of the crash. I would have been about 10 at the time too.

I knew that there would be a few stories here, but I'm still more surprised by these stories than I thought I would be.
There was one more situation I was in, but I'm not sure if it really counts. It happened around the time when I was about one year old. So my mom tells me, my dad got a drug dealer REALLY pissed off at my family, so he slashed a part of the underside of my mom's car, thinking it was my dad's (although she didn't say what that part was). So then, as we were driving on the freeway, a guy in a truck pulled next to our car and yelled out, "Your car's on fire!" So my mom pulled over, got me out of the car, and ran from it. She said that only a few seconds later, the car was engulfed in flames, and if we did not get out when we did, we would have died. Again, I'm not sure if this counts, and I'm only telling what my mom told me because I couldn't even talk at the time.

My mom got into a car accident and it was a accident the ttenagers behind us had told us they have been driving for more than 16 hours without resting so if they got into a accident they were sorry but we DID get into a accident and they went flying into a tree and we also thrown into a tree or whatever I can't really remember I was 3-4 when it happened

Well here are a few:

My stepmom a few years back was driving home from work and she stopped at a stop sign and as she was pulling out a truck, speeding came over the hill and hit her driver's side door. It totaled the station wagon and threw it off the road. She is fine now, but she was rushed to the doctor and she had fluid leeking in her head.

After this we got a new van and a week later it was hit by a car that smashed into another car. But everyone was ok and the door needed to be replaced.

My friend, not too long ago got into an accdent. She just turned 16 a few weeks ago but it was not her fault, the guy ran a red light. She's ok

But a girl at my school died early this week when her car hydroplaned and hit a tree. Hydroplaning is when you car is driving at about 35mph or above and the tire is then riding on the water and has no traction so a gust of wind can throw it off the road.

This was not too far from the spot were early this year another girl at my school died because a dump truck hit her.

I've been in a few minor accidents, nothing too serious and no one was ever injured. In one incident, my mom hit the brake too late and hit the car in front of her, but it only dented the front of our car and knocked off the other cars' tail light. Another one happened last winter, where my mom was at a stopsign and a van's brakes didn't work as it approached her, and it slammed into her and pushed her into an intersection. She wasn't hit again thankfully, and the van had more damage than her car did.

Yeah, I talked to my friend who was in the one I posted above and he said he got really scared when he saw all of us at the corner. He thought the car hit us too.

I've almost gotten into a few accidents, none of them my fault. I'm still learning on my permit, too. (lol) But I've almost gotten smashed into by a tractor and rearended more times that I care to remember. >< One of my good friends did get into an accident, though. >< She wasn't hurt too bad, but her car was totaled.
