This has bothered me for a very long time. Alot of people judge these dogs directly at the mention of their names: The German sheperd and The Husky. I can't even recall the amount of people that have told me this, "Oh, but, we can't adopt (Sheperd or Husky) they are aggresive and aren't very good dogs." This ticks me off beyond beleif! I know German Sheperds were bred as guard dogs but, they won't attack you if they aren't trained to. The reason they say this about huskies is because of their wolf like appearence. All these well-behaved dogs are left at the Animal Shelter because of their bad reputations and ill tempured rumours. Even today a man turned down a 8 year old german sheperd who was well into old age and was extremely calm and took home a hyper, "impolite", 3 year old labrador cross and they had a 2 year old baby walking around the house, not too bright if you ask me. The man told me he didn't trust sheperds. It makes me sick how people can judge someone or something without a seccond, not mention first, thought about it.
What are your opinions on the matter?

German Shepherds can get aggressive, it's in their nature. Most dogs will attack if they feel threatened in some way or another. My Mom was bit by a German Shepherd back when she was a kid, she was on the other side of the street walking past. Problem with Huskies, is that if you have nice furniture and a none-physical life, it'll drive you nuts and the dog won't get the excersize it needs. Most people buy a pup cause it's cute, then it grows up and they find out that they can't keep the dog and get rid of it. They need to start assessing their lifestyle, then find a dog that fits their life style.
Not alot you can do about the other people though, so you've gotta deal with it. Some people are stupider then others, lol.

Yes! Very often times my wolf-dog is judged just because he's half wolf. But he is the laziest dog in the world and couldn't attack anyone even if he wanted to. It's even in his name! (St. Jimmy) But we've trained him right and he's a very good sport.

True, in a way. Most of the time its down to the person who trained the dog. However, some dogs are born aggresive or disobediant. Some dogs are harder to train than others.
I mean, with a Staffy for example, they can be really sweet dogs but since its in their blood to fight they can turn. Some dogs are unpredictable and take a strong handler.
A Husky would need a stronger handler since its in their blood to work but they can make good companions. They certainly shouldn't be labelled as aggresive. German Shepherds can be tempremental so they need a strong, experienced trainer too.

Yeah, firmer training. It is mainly down to humans but there are some dogs that are naturally disobediant.
My friend's Welsh Springer Spaniel had a litter of puppies. This friend is an amazing dog owner and trainer and one of the puppies was very good as a puppy but he had to be put down as an adult because he was so hyper active all the time. He was just crazy and had ended up biting three people through his over-excitement.

Yeah, I know of a Beagle that had similar symptons. Some old friend of mine. Maybe its the smaller breeds that suffer from it.

What? That's just stupid. Of course it wouldn't. If the husky is well-trained then I highly doubt that it would. If its not trained, or still a puppy, then what kind of person in their right mind would leave it at home with an infant or cat anyway?
I'd love to know where you heard that.
