I don't know if you have ever heard about this animation movie, but this one is realy breathtaken.
Was created by the author Don Bluth, witch I bow before him, who left disney to create this "dark" movie, because from what have been seen, Disney (and lately all the producers like Universal - Balto 2 and 3) have forget how to create the true and original movies, movies that would mark you deep inside your soul. Todays movies, are all over songs, songs, songs, final ending, and stuff, and seems they are considered to be 12 years old ages and bellow, witch is VERY rong, animations having even more power than real life movies for the ideas and beauty they can create.
The Secret of NIMH can be found here.
It maked me feel strange when I re-watched it 2 months ago, a movie from witch I had only little fragments in my memory, and I wasn't sure if I had seen it before, tho it looked very familiar, probabely watching it when I was 4 or 5.
I higly recommand it this special movie, especialy the work of this movie is done amaizinly.
Why? Details here
Quotes from the link:
"The Secret Of NIMH was budgeted under $ 7 million (Don managed to bring his film in under budget). "
"The film was made with a small crew of 13 animators, compared to
30+ animators with recent animated productions. Supervising
Effects animator Dorse Lanpher and his tiny crew of three effects
animators managed to fill the film with the needed sparks, fire,
shadows and water. "

Well maybe that's the reason I didn't find the animation to be that good...Yet it's still a very good job if you consider that, indeed. They must have worked 70 hours a week to succeed making it then...
The main reproach I would have with nowadays animated films, is that they lack seriousness. They only want to make the public laugh, and that's all...

This is the 95% problem with all the sequels as a start. And nowdays movies also have vague storys, A "action" with B, C comes and save the day.
It's a real shame that people think animations are good only for kids under 12 years.

On the contrary, the serious ones are considered for children by "normal" people (ex : Balto, All dogs go to heaven, Spirit, the original Land before time, etc...) while comedic films are more considered as for everyone (All Pixar's films, Shark Tale, Madagascar, etc...).
It's all the opposite to me...
And about the sequels, I don't think that neither Balto 2 nor Balto 3 lack seriousness... Unlike some others such as TLK 1 1/2, Mulan 2, ...

I enjoyed NIMH, but when I was really little I thought it was really strange. I can appreciate it more now that I'm older though.

Ive always liked The Secret of Nimh. My Moms actually the one who got me into it. The first times I watched it though, I was kinda creeped out by it. Jeremy Is the cutest crow ever!! Always makes me laugh.
I wasnt much into the second one, not sure why it just never seemed right. But it is cute, and I like Timmy.

Well for me it does... beside the weak animation (at least for the original characters) think of this:
In II, all that mysticism have nothing to do with Balto.
In III, Balto falls down of a cliff that looks like 1 km high, and have absolutely nothing, he keeps sliding on ice and looks happy, and after the river thing, he and others look so content.
This is only 1 thing from both witch for me don't work out.
But hey, thats just me, and I know that I am very conservatory (I don't know if this is the specific word), I mean ususaly don't like changes.
As for the Secret of NIMH, I do remember 3 parts from when I had 5 years and I watched it for the first time.
The rats that goes out the window with the plug (it was realy creepy for me that time), Nicodemus when it's reflected in the Amulet (I was scared), and a mix of Ms. Brisby and the rat/mice that is/are injected with the niddle. (I was quite shoked).
Thats all I remember from the first part the first time.
Oh and I remember Jeremy at the end of his "zig-zag" flyght.
