here is a teaser of a fic i'm writing. and yes i do plan on making sequels.
i do plan on correcting it and adding more action and movment to the lines.
The pup named Ruke
This story takes place 6 months before balto II wolf quest.
It was a cold night down at Nome. January, one of the coldest months in the year was brewing a blizzard all over Alaska and was heading straight for Nome. Balto knew this was coming and was trying to get ready for it. It seemed he would be ok, all was well. At least for him it was. Deep in the woods miles from Nome a wolf den was being hit hard by storm. Inside were 3 wolves that were freezing to death. There were 6, but three of the pups died from the cold. The only one's that remained was a red wolf who was his mother, a little gray wolf who was his sister, and he was a young brown pup who was very strong for his age. The brown pup was standing at the cave entrance looking for his father. It has been a long time and the storm was getting worse by the second. He looked at his mother who looked very worried. So he went and decided to talk to her and try to cheer her up, maybe.
"Momma, where's father?" he asked
"He’s probably coming home." she said
"Momma, me getting worried." he said "it be gity freezier by second."
She giggled a bit because his grammar was still a little poor
"What be funny?" he asked staring at her "you laf at me grammar? That not very nice."
She stopped smiling and remembered he just started to speak.
"I’m sorry, you just remind of your father when he was your age." she said
"His speech was worse than yours when we first met."
"It was?" he asked
"A lot worse." she said laughing, remembering how bad his speech was.
"So where is papa?" asked his little sister who woke hearing the laughing
"He’s bringing home dinner." she said
"You be a very bad liar." said the brown pup "it be very bad storm."
"He’ll come home my son." she said "now come and rest before you freeze to death."
"coming." he said as he ran up to her side
"You should also practice your speech to." she said
He snuggled up against her and she heard him talking and correcting himself.
He began talking better and clearer, after practicing a few hours.
"Try using I instead of me when referring to yourself." she said
"I am bored." he said "I am happy, no, I am beginning to talk good!"
He started running and jumping around at his success.
Just then a brown wolf covered in ice burst through the cave door and fell to the ground.
"DAD!"
"Zev!" said Leeloo
The little brown cub ran up to his father
"Are you ok?" he asked his father
"Yes, I’m fine." he replied "what about you?"
"I’m doing great!" said the pup happily wagging his tail
"Hey, you’re talking better!" said his father happily "now you’re talking better, we need to give you a name."
"Oh my." said his mother "we never thought about that yet. We need two good names."
"Two?" asked Zev who had a very worried look on his face "what about the other three?"
Leeloo frowned and started crying
"They didn't make it." she said
Zev looked sad and almost began to cry until,
“So, what should my name be? Huh? Huh? Huh?” said the little wolf jumping up and down going crazy. Leeloo and Zev began to smile
“How about roo?” asked Leeloo “like in kangaroo to describe his playful behavior.”
“What about Khan?” asked Zev “for his strong will?”
“Hey, what about Roukhan?” said Leeloo
“Wait I like Ruke.” Said Zev
“Ruke” said the little pup thinking “I like it! Can I be named Ruke?
“Well, if it’s ok with your mother.” Said Zev
“It sounds like a good name.” said Leeloo smiling
“My name Ruke.” Ruke said
“Is Ruke.” Said Leeloo
“Oops, my name is Ruke.” He said
“Me to.” Said Leeloo
“What about me momma?” asked Ruke’s sister
“I always wanted to name you Sonya.” Said Leeloo
“I like it.” Said Sonya
“Come now you must be tired.” Said Leeloo “you haven’t slept for hours.”
“Did he stay awake waiting for me?” asked Zev
“I could not just let you die.” Said Ruke “I needed to make sure you were safe.”
“You would make a great leader Ruke.” Said Zev smiling
Ruke walks over to his mother and stretches, only to fall asleep beside her.
Zev gets up slowly and shakes off the ice, then walks over beside Leeloo
“Leeloo, it’s freezing in here.” Said Zev
“I know, I’m sorry Ruke, and Sonya.” She said
“Sorry for what?” asked Zev
“Zev we won’t survive in this weather.” Said Leeloo “we will freeze before we wake up.”
“I know what will happen.” Said Zev “we need to try to save them.” “But we only need save one.”
“What do you mean?” said Leeloo
“We need to try to save Sonya.” Said Zev “Ruke will make it. I know he will”
“What if Ruke freezes?” said Leeloo
“He’s strong, he wont die.” Said Zev
“There just pups.” Said Leeloo “what will they do?”
I told you Ruke will be fine.” Said Zev “he will protect Sonya, and hunt squirrels.
He’s the best hunter I’ve seen at his age.”
“It’s so hard to say goodbye.” Said Leeloo starting to cry
“At least we will be together.” Said Zev
With that he lays beside her and they cover up Sonya while Ruke stays on Leeloo’s other side.
“Goodbye, my pups.” Said Leeloo as she went to sleep, never to wake again.
so what happens to Ruke and Sonya? Wait for it to come out at balto source.(i just started like yesterday and im working on making it more intresting so consider that when you vote. Thank You.)
