Okay, this is going to be my second fic ever written, but it's going to be a surprise, even to the winners of the contest. This is where I will update on the story's progress by giving out teasers and pics for the actual fic. You are welsome to comment and discuss on what you think this fic is about, and what you could predict will happen. Me and Tiktac will be writting this fic, so if you have any questions, pm me, or her.
here is a little portion that Balto Sis has written. This portion of the teaser is 100% (C) to Balto Sis!!!
I still remember the day, although I doubt the one I love remembers. It was Summer, I was a year old and I had just ran from a husky breeder in a town about 50 miles away. I was exausted and lying on a washed up ship's deck. There was a wolfdog, he took me in. Trust me, running 50 miles really makes you tired. I had conked out just before he took me on the boat.
The sunrise was beautiful, it was so peaceful that morning. I listened to the waves slowly rock on to the beach. The peacefullness was soon inturupted by the sound of a goose and polar bears. I slowly got up and saw the wolfdog who took me in talking to a goose and two polars bears. I blinked, just to make sure it was real and sat down, perplexed.
Before I could ask, a new sound was heard. A few dogs were coming down to the boat. There were two females and one male, who looked older than the other two, probably a big brother I thought. The huskies barked up to the wolfdog "Dad!" the brother said. "We've come to visit!" The wolfdog invited them up.
"So, who's the new dog?" asked the smaller of the two females, she was delicatly built and very pretty, but she wasn't the one I was drawn to. It was the bigger one, no, not bigger she was just taller and more wolfish. She was absolutely gorgeous in my eyes. Her green eyes dazzled in the early morning sun. Her coat was a beautiful red. I shook my head and looked over to the wolfdog "I'm not sure.. What is your name?" "I'm" I cleared my throat "My name's Asikan." "Asikan, this is Kodi," the wolfdog nodded his head towards the brother "Anana," he nodded toward the delicate one "and Toska." I mouthed the words so as not to forget them. The wolfdog then said "Oh, and I'm Balto." I barked "Balto? the one who saved all of those children?!?!" I was amazed, here I was in the midst of a hero and his offspring. "I.. ahem.. I'm delighted to meet you!"
I couldn't keep my eyes off of the beautiful husky the rest of the day. I shuddered every time she spoke. I watched her run, she was very fast. "You should be on a sled team!" I complimented. She grinned from ear to ear and shot off again. I raced after her and soon we were neck and neck "Your not to bad yourself," she smiled. The sun was now setting and she had to go home. I had such a great time, I didn't want her to leave. I whimpered as she slowly walked away with her siblings.
That was the best day of my life, I will never forget those beautiful green eyes.
Update!!!! this portion is 100% (C) to Tiktac!!!
Sarlaac winced as the leash pulled tighter around his neck .No way did he want to go into one of those tiny little kennels! He'd heard they were awful .But there was no going back now.
"You'll be in Logan's old kennel, Ok?" said the musher. Logan was the old wheel position 2,but he died fairly recently.
As they approached the kennels, Sarlaac's ears perked up. They weren't so bad! They were roomy and looked warm. They all had gold-plated signs on them with each dog's name. They appeared to have no particular order, since the dog he recognized as the wheel position 1 dog was in the third kennel down, but one of the swing dogs was the first kennel.
One kennel was vacant. It was dusty, with cobwebs and the smell of something dead mixed with dirt and old wood. Sarlaac wrinkled his nose. Then, something caught his eye. Atop the kennel next to his, there was a red husky. She smelled almost like a wolf. Sarlaac noticed here warm smile, and smiled in return. He had little time to chat, when the musher shoved him in the kennel and placed a large wood plank in front of the door.
"I'm gonna have ta' put this here 'till I can trust that you won't run off...okay boy? I'll be gettin' your name plate soon...but what do I call you? Your old tag said Sarlaac...I dunno. We'll see." ,she said.
Sarlaac focused his attention on the red husky, who has jumped down from the roof and looked over the top of the makeshift door.
"Hey. You must be new here." she said. Sarlaac nodded. The husky smiled. "Well I'm Toska. I'm the lead dog here. I can introduce you to the other team members when you get your seal of approval...in other words, when you get out of here." she said. "I'm Sarlaac." Sarlaac said. Toska nodded. "Nice to meet you, Sarlaac." she said.
The big black-and-grey dog sighed as he padded across the grass among five pine trees. It was long grass...but thin and whispy. The wind had blown it over so that it layed almost totally sideways. The leaves were rounder...like Pine needles.
"Pine-needle grass." he thought, giving the unknown plant it's new name. He hadn't lived with humans in so long that he forgot the real terms for different plants. A few feet over, he came across some grass with long stems and one single lily-pad leaf atop each little thin blade. Sarlaac called this Lilypad Grass. He knew about Crab Grass of course...and he called your typical garden-variety grass Lawn Grass.
Sarlaac's stomach rumbled. He stopped.
"Hmm....chicken." he thought flatly. Chicken sounded good.
The big dog arrived at the chicken pen fairly late. There were several plump, round hens bobbing their heads and clucking.
Sarlaac licked his lips, and crept forward .In an instant he rushed, swooping at the clumsy birds.
He groaned as they all flapped away to the yard they lived in.A huge guard dog smirked evilly at Sarlaac.
The black dog sneered at his rival.
"Still trying to sneak meals ,eh Sarlaac?" asked a female voice. It was Sarlaac's best friend, a red wolfdog named Toska. She was a descendant of the famous Balto.
"Yeah...I can't get in if Roso won't move..." he whined. Toska laughed. "Alright, hunter, come on. Musher's got food ready for us back at home, ok?" she said. Sarlaac nodded, and glared at Rosco one last time before following his friend along the path home.
More to come soon!

okay, here's 'part' of my teaser. more teasers will be added while the story is being progressed. This is in Toska's point of view.
I remember that day as though it were yesterday. A day that I would never forget.
I yawned as a new day arose. My crimson fur glimmering in the sunlight, and eyes shimmering an aqua blue. I padded out of an abandoned boat, occupied with another animal, a hero to the small town of Nome, Alaska. The other occupant was Balto. He stretched and padded out from the captain’s quarters and gazed at the warm sunrise.
“Good morning, Toska. Sleep well?” Balto asked.
“Yes father. Very well actually.” I replied, bristling my fur. Another wolfdog appeared at the scene, but more slim and fragile. “Hey, Anana. Long time no see.” I greeted while sitting at the front of the boat.
“Good morning, Toska.” Anana replied. She walked over to Balto. “Hello dad.” Anana greeted her father while rubbing his chest in a daughterly manner.
I took in the morning air and deeply sighed as I peered around the terrain and noticed a brown dog wondering in our direction. I decided to back away towards my father and Anana, just to be safe. As the dog came onto the boat, we spoke to one another.
After the greeting, I had to leave back to my home, and to my team. I ate a small amount of breakfast and lapped some water. A few of my teammates joked around and filled me in on the plan for the day before I jumped on top of my pen to take a nap.
A few hours had passed, and I was sound asleep on top of my pen that had my name carved on a solid gold plate. My owner, who was a skilled musher, came waltzing by, pulling on a red leash. I opened my eyes out of curiosity, and saw a black and gray dog.
This was one of the days that would change my life forever.
