I agree Shimmer. It has become very annoying with all of those topics like that. The first few were ok, but after that they became pretty pointless to me. The Fanart Section should be a place to show your art and recieve critique and words of praise, not 'addopt out' characters.

Well, I don't exactly agree, but I sort of do. I mean, I know the fan art section is sort of for showing off your work, art trades,etc. But still, I think that it's okay to give people characters. Without those adoption contests, a lot of old charries wouldn't have attention!

Finally people are noticing. It's been bugging me too. Have people lost all creativity? Creating a character yourself is the best part, it's fun! But when it's suggested or given to you what's the point? I'm not saying this to be mean to those contest creators, but does there have to be so many? It's crazy, it's almost a whole page on mate contests, like BS said. There should be a limit to how many of one kind of contest someone can run. Fanart was fun to go into and explore, but now I just know what to expect. Agree completely, 100% Black Shimmer.

I don't go on the fanart forum much, but from the sounds of things, there seems to be a lack of focus on what the forum is for. Based off of Shimmer's evidence, it seems that contests and stuff are getting a little too popular. I agree that the adopting of characters is a little strange. It was cute at first, but this is overboard. In the image Shimmer gave, there are at least 4 different adopt topics, one being 49 pages long. I'm all for a little fun here and there, but come on. One topic for it is fine, but now everyone is doing it. I've heard of imitating a style or idea, but this is just plain un-orgionality. I'm seeing more contests for people to make art for a persons fanfic or characters than that of people submiting their own work. This has become a request forum more or less, not a fan art forum.

I hardly look at it, but after reading this, I popped over to the Fan art Fourm, and man....IT WAS A MESS! Ok, I am on a few role-playing sites, all of them advanced, and there is a board for adoption. But it is hardly ever used, unless their sick of the characters, or the person it quitting the site for some reason and wants to leave their characters to someone, or their leaving for a 2 month vaction. It's about time somebody makes a topic about this! there is one adoption topic that I go to and that is #1liloandstitchfan's, atleast she didn't make a billion and kept them all in the same topic..There is one person who has about 6 or 7 adoption contests and AT LEAST 4 mate contests, just post them in the same thing! but I agree with you, it's unfair how none of the real art topics get no replies.

I can answer that, and the answer is no. Nobody can be creative anymore because it requires a very difficult task: to think. I think people are also making this crap because they feel like they have to be like everyone else and hold a contest, just to get people to use their characters and appreciate their art.

I think it's also cuz people want their characters to be the "hottest couple" on Balto Source, which is one of the biggest loads I have even heard of. People need to be fricken creative and they're not and they wonder why nobody likes their work. Its because it's all been seen before. Its all been used before.

The same thing goes for fanfics. People read a fic from a writer they "admire" then decide to write a fic ridiculously similar. The same thing goes for fursona/character designing.

I won't mention any names, but quite frankly, this lack of creativity pisses me off, and if I could I would flame every single one of these people on this site who dares to be just like everyone else. But I can't. So I won't. I can only sit back and watch as peoples' brains rot away as they are being used less and less with each passing day.

So I wanted to ask this thing too,I've been asking on Shoutboxes also,to see what all people would say about this "wierd situation".
I find it annoying also,It all came this July or June,Catwhohas14tails made an adoption thread then somehow,it spreaded out to 10!!No it's not Cat's fault..But I find really riddiculous stealing ideeas...

But the most annoying is because all the Contests (mostly) are maden by the same people.

Seriously I am EXTRA scared to view Fan Arts...Because I see 3945738 topics of Contests.

Yes it has been my favourite too,I love to view Fan Arts(So do Fan videos) But these contests has been gone too far as you all know.

Finally a topic like this. These adoptions and contests are taking over the fanart forum. You are suppos to use it for advice and comments ect....
Well anyways, i used to go on the fanart forum all the time but now all these things that are wasting that forum is just kinda annoying. Its suppost to show your own creativity not someon elses for you. I agree with Shimmy totaly.
