How often do you treat your dog for worms/fleas?

I mean, give them either a tablet or put some form of medecine on their back to prevent fleas/worms? I always thought that it was every 3 months but our old vet told us it was every month. I'm still happy to believe every 3 months. Archie is now overdue for the treatment because my mum won't go to the vets to get him some stuff. :x

Worms eat the food that your dog eats so make it hungry and poop a lot. And, yes, they get worms in their poop. That's why you should check their poop regulary. :D Lovely, I know.

I'm pretty sure that its every three months. The stuff isn't cheap so I suppose that the vets have the idea of getting more money out of you..

Most dog books say otherwise. Plus, the vets my dad's dog goes to says that every three months is fine. The old vets told us not long ago that every month was the right amount. Well, Archie hasn't got worms or fleas yet so I suppose 3 months must be ok.

Dogs don't get worms and fleas from cold weather.
They are picked up when out on walks from other dogs and animals. Also, worms can get into the body when dogs eat other animals poop or dead animals.

Fleas can be caught at any time throughout the year really. It's kennel cough you have to watch out for in the winter.

Small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs are more likely to get flies in the summer though. Ew.. why do animals have to be subject to so many nasty illnesses?

Well, none of my dogs have ever had fleas so I wouldn't know whether fleas are better or worse in the winter. But I wouldn't have thought it mattered. They're parasites and as long as they have blood to suck I think they're happy. Darn fleas.

That's why you should give your dog worm/flea treatment every three months. To prevent them. It protects them from worms and fleas for a month or so.

Well, my dog has Stronghold drops that go on his back. My dad's has tablets. The only case of fleas we've ever had was when we looked after the neighbour's cat and we had to buy her a flea collar. She was covered in them.
