I'm reading a book called Animal Heroes(yeah, It's for children, but it involves lotsa blood, so maybe tween-teenish peeps, not 5-6 year olds).
It's about different animals.

Little Brother - Cory Doctorow

I just got this today from my school's library, and while I'm only through the first dozen or so pages, I'm already enjoying it. I'm starting to think of it as a version of George Orwell's 1984, written for the internet age. It features a high school senior who enjoys finding exploits in the numerous methods of security his school uses to keep students in line with the rules. I haven't gotten very far into the plot, but it looks like it's going to be a very fun book. I'd definitely recommend this one for anyone interested in hacking, computers, or if you just love seeing authority subverted.

There's one passage in particular that made me, an AS and fanfiction fan laugh, in which the main character, Marcus Yallow, describes this online scavenger hunt he takes part in, which has multiple components, including researching dojinshi, which is fan-created manga based on an existing franchise (a sort of manga equivalent to fanfcition). He notes that there are "Lots of love stories, of course. Everyone loves to see their favorite toons hook up."

Oh yes we do Marcus... yes we do.
