Holly's ears twitched nervously. The male sounded sincere, but he could've easily been acting.

Sadie could see the nervousness on the pup's face. "It's just an offer. You don't have to," she said. "But we are being sincere."

"Can I talk with my sister for a second?" the pup said, turning to her sister.
Loki stepped back, "Sure," he then turned to Sadie and asked, "Do you think that they'll be any help? Or will we just be helping them to be keeping them off the streets?"
Chesnut looked at her sister, "Do you think we should go? I mean, it beats having no parents, and they seem nice, but, I dunno. How do you feel about them? I think we should tho,"

"I guess we'll both be helping each other," Sadie replied. "We'll give them a home, someone to care for them. I think they might help us if they end up coming."

"They seem okay," Holly said, though a skepticism still edged her voice. "But I don't know for sure." A moment's thought, and the young pup sighed. "But we can't stay on the streets forever. We're barely getting by. I think...I think we should go, too."

"Sounds good," Loki replied.
Chesnut timidly said, "We'll come. But if we don't like it, we're gonna leave. Do we have your word tht you'll let us go if we want?"
Loki glanced at Sadie and then replied, "Yes."

"Of course. We won't force you if you don't want to," Sadie assured them.

She sounded sincere. But Holly was still just a tiny but doubtful about trusting them. Hesitation was clear on her face as she nodded. "Okay, then. We'll come."

"C'mon, Holly," Chesnut yipped, resting her tail on her sister's flank, to help guide her. She waited for two adults to move. "He, how far are we gonna walk, we were about to take a nap earlier," she questioned.
"Not too far, but perhps we can carry you," Loki suggested. "Do you think its a good idea, Sadie?"

Sadie nodded. "Sure."

"I can walk," Holly insisted stubbornly. Blind or not, she was capable of moving one aching paw in front of another.

"I'll walk too then," Chesnut woofed quickly, not wanting to be even more privilidged than her sister.
Loki yawned, "Okay, follow Sadie then."
Chesnut yawned also, perhaps yawns really were contagious.

Sadie led the way out of the alley. The human scent remained stale, and she allowed herself to relax fractionally.

"Where is it?" Holly asked, ears pricked in curiousity.

"Just a few city blocks away..." Loki said, "Far but not far..."

Chesnut sighed "Really?"

Holly's paws complained at the thought, but she refused to be carried. Just because she was blind didn't mean she was helpless. She could walk....even if she was exhausted.

"It's not as far as it sounds," Sadie assured the two pups. "But we should probably get moving."

"Hey, maybe if we walk a little faster, it'll be easier. Momentum," Loki explained.
"Sounds weird... how would it help?"
"Once you get started, ya kinda get used to walking that way, and obviously we'd be done quicker..."
"Holly, do you wanna try it? If you don't, I understand, cuz I'm exhuasted..."

"'Kay. let's try it," Chesnut said, and tried to pick up her pace.
Loki grinned. These pups had a lot of enthusiasm. "Okay. Do ya wanna let me get ya in pace with a march?" he wagged his tail, "'Up, two three four, 'Up, two three four..." he trailed off.

Sadie's brown eyes shone with a glint of amusement at his march.

Holly struggled to pick up her pace. If she didn't focus on her paws, it was a little esaier to walk this fast, but it still was a bit difficult.
