"Um," he started,"I was wondering if Cross had come back." He blushed. He didn't want Owl to know that he had a crush on Cross.

"No, she didn't. Also, I think it's best for you to stay away from the gang for a while." Owl got up and trotted away.

Back at her place, Cross got up and looked at the hole under her fence. I really wanna go see Bruce... The red puppy slid under the fence and, shaking dirt from her fur, started walking down the street toward her friends' alleyway.

Scamp's face fell. "Well," he said, "okay." He guessed he would never see Cross again.

Cross came down Scamp's street and saw the young dog standing in front of his house. "Hey...Scamp!" she called and upped her trot to reach him more quickly.

"Oh," Scamp said, his face brightning a bit,"hey Cross. I'm not allowed back in the gang." His face drooped, suddenly forgetting about the lick.

"Huh? Why not?" Cross sat beside him, but not too close because she remembered Angel was probably near, too.

Owl made it back to the gang and saw that T.P and Bruce were straightening things out between Kandas and "Spooky".

"I-I don't know," he whimpered. "Owl said I can't come back." He sat even closer beside her.

"Owl isn't really that hard on others unless they did something terrible." She looked at Scamp. "You didn't...hurt anybody did you?"

Owl sat down and watched the older males step between Kandas when Jeremy said that the incident wasn't his fault. The yellow puppy was growling up a storm and Owl decided that, being second-in-command of the gang, she needed to step in. "Break it up!" she ordered the yellow puppy. "I'm sure Jeremy didn't mean it."

Cross sighed and looked away. "T-that's sweet, Scamp," she started and pondered over the words she should use next.

Kandas just snorted and sat back, watching Owl. "You guys always take up for him," he mumbled and Bruce glared over to him.
"We do no," he said gruffly. "It's just YOU, Kandas, always want to start a fight."
"And I will not tolerate fighting among my friends." T.P looked down at yellow puppy. "He apologized and you should accept it."

Scamp gulped, than blushed. Gently, he nuzzeled her. "Yes,"he said. "It is!"

The other puppy pulled away and said, "But I...I don't like you like that. As a friend, yes." She glanced over to his yard and added, "Anyway, you have Angel, right?"

"Fine. Jeremy, I accept your apology." Kandas huffed and stood up to pad back to the little spot in the alley he claimed as his own.
Jeremy nodded and quickly ran past him and out of the alley.
"Guess he's off to see Beverly," Bruce said and Owl sighed.
"Guess he is."

Scamp looked up, embaressed. "Well,"Scamp started, than thought about all the good times he had with Angel, and how she loved him so much, "yes. I do!" And without turning or saying good-bye, he ran in the house and nuzzeled Angel, than realized Angel wasn't breathing. Scamp screamed. "NOOOO!!!!"

Cross had smiled once she got him to realize that who he needed was right in front of him. She was about to walk off to find Bruce, but then a shrill cry cut through the air. Cross whirled around and ran into Scamp's doggy door. Inside, the house was huge compared to her place! It would take her forever to find him. "Scamp!" Cross called out. "Scamp, where are you?"

Scamp couldn't talk, much less breathe. "I-in here," he said, through big breaths. He waited for Cross to come in the room.
