No, traditonally animated films requires a lot of money on the contrary. More than 3D films in fact, and more than the average live action film.
If you want a proof, then just wonder why they aren't doing anymore traditionally animated film these days, only 3D...

Well, I still think that making the traditional animation films are more reliable than 3D. The computer generated movies in the making are subject to major technical problems like fatal errors, system crashes, etc. Also, It still doesn't make sense to me that computer generation costs less than regular animation. I think it would cost more to power 900 computers for about 10,000 hours a week (Please don't tell me that that's inaccurate, it's just a guess) than to pay a bunch of animators to use pencils and lights and colors. Besides, they can use the same animation sequences whenever they need to, and in computer generation, special effects are used all the time, and I know for a fact that those aren't cheap.

Well, with 3D you don't need to redraw the characters : you only make the models, that you can re-use within all the film, and this is even easier to make sequels then. You can re-use many elements. Computers are more and more powerful so with the years, it requires a smaller number of computers to generate 3D. Many effects are automatic, while for 2D you need to draw each frame of an effect. Etc etc...

Yeah, I see your point, but the 3D animated movies are still subject to system crashes, fatal errors, power outages, and other technical difficulties more so than traditional animated films. Even if there is a power failure in a traditional animation studio, they could maybe use alternate light sources to see the cells they're making... I think.

Barbie again... *sigh*

Barbie growing under Universal
Studio says latest franchise release outperforms other titles
By Susanne Ault 9/26/2006

SEPT. 26 | Universal Studios Home Entertainment believes it is reinvigorating the Barbie DVD franchise. The studio said it sold 500,000 units of Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses during street week, a number it claims outperforms other recent releases in the series.

Bowing Sept. 19, 12 Dancing Princesses moved 15% more copies than the most recent September 2005 franchise installment Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus during its debut week, according to Universal. Pegasus and previous Barbie titles were distributed by Lionsgate.

The 12 Dancing Princesses title marks the first release to come out of Universal’s multi-year, multi-film DVD distribution deal with Barbie licensor Mattel. Inked in April, the pact severed the five-year distribution relationship Mattel had with Lionsgate (VB, 4-11).

Universal believes the deal’s initial results prove that the studio was wise to snap up the popular but maturing girls’ series.

“We’re thrilled that Mattel has put its confidence in Universal Studios Home Entertainment to market and distribute this widely embraced Barbie direct-to-DVD family franchise,” Universal president Craig Kornblau said. “Based on the strong early sales of Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses, we have not only defied the traditional sales trend, but we’ve paved the road for this property’s future growth and success.”

Mattel is so far pleased with Barbie’s continued attraction with consumers.

“Based on a strong start at retail and a track record of success, we’re confident that Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses will be a big hit this season among families,” said Richard Dickson, Mattel’s senior VP of marketing, media and entertainment. “Our nine Barbie movies have now sold more than 30 million collective units worldwide.”

I'm just a young pup but I really don't like this. Well, all we can do are make more people to know Balto (like Steet's project). Did they sell DVD for region 3???? If they didn't, it'll be my job to introduce Balto. Of course my friends first....

It's hard to find all about Balto here. I just can find Balto 3 (vcd) now...

Poor Balto......

Well I think why our pettion is up to numbers which should have met the goal a while ago is that with that sign up which the pettion needs to prove so it isn't just a random people that could just sign it 1,000 times, that doing fo the younger members might be hard for them getting the adress and things down, and might be nervous to ask there rents to help them. So I do think a lot want to sign but don't have the info on to fill the info sheet out themselves and give up there just hoping it will go up.

sadness!!
