Maddy remained silent, listening in every so often. Sin wasn't paying any of them any attention. Sydney kept glancing back at Maddy, concerned like an elder sister would. Maddy continued looking at her feet, in one of her stupor moods. She usually got like this is Sin yelled at her.

Katie was finally sick of this, the quietness, the awkwardness. She didn't like it and noticed it was getting late. "Okay guys, we're just gunna stop for tonight... So tommorrow we can drive longer." The red head sighed, pulling into the first "noncreepy" motels she'd seen.

Marty whimpered but Scotty was pleased, he put away his guitar and stretched.

Maddy nodded and Sin shrugged. They climbed out of the car, Mady still pretty down. Sydney put a hand on her shoulder and Sin rolled his eyes.

"Sorry, ok?" Sin said finally. Maddy looked up at him.

"What?" She asked, taken aback.

"Sorry for yelling." He said simply, turning and walking into the lobby. This cheered Maddy up.

After they had all gotten settled, and decided that the girls would share a room, and the boys would share a different one.

Marty had slipped outside and sat cross legged on the cement porch, smoking a cigarrette. Katie had searched him before they left, he had only had a pack of camals on him so she allowed him to keep those. While Scotty had disappeared, Marty didn't know where to, but he didn't seem to concerned. He sat, listening to My Darkest Days on Scotty's Ipod, head banging a bit.

Sin decided to stay in the room, on his laptop, typing away. Sydney stayed in her room too, totally absorbed in a book. And Maddy sat around confused. She sighed and stood, making her way to the door.

"Where are you going?" Sydney asked, not really paying attention to Maddy.

"I'm gonna go for a walk, I'll be back when it gets dark." She assured her, slipping out of the room. Once out of the hotel and on the streets, Maddy saw Marty smoking a cigarette. She walked over to him and sat next to him.

"Thanks for standing up for me, earlier." Maddy said softly.

When she first came out Marty was jamming, singing carelessly like he and Scotty usual did. "She wraps those hands around that pole, and she takes it off nice and slow, cause that's po-" he cut off when the door closed. He quickly paused the ipod and took out the headphones listening to her speak before nodding and giving his usual chill smile "Eh, no problem, lil Dudette." He replied.

"Can I have one?" Maddy asked, looking at the pack of cigarettes.

Marty happily handed her one "If you get caught: you never talked to me." He said then smirked, glancing at the ipod to see the title of the song he'd just listened to.

Maddy grinned and nodded, taking his liter and lighting up. She puffed the smoke and coughed, the smoke feeling like needles going down her throat. She took a few more puffs and got used to the rush of smoke. Maddy made an O with the smoke and laughed. She inhaled deeply once more and blew the smoke out of her nose.

"This is fun." She chimed.

Marty laughed "Glad 'yer enjoyin' it shorty." He teased. "Smokin' only get's better with music!" He smirked about to hand he a headphone before pulling it quickly away "How old are you?" He asked curiously, he couldn't remember his own name let alone Maddy's age.

"15-years-awesome!" She said, grinning happily and taking another drag of the cigarette.

"Fifteeeeeeen..." He thought about it a moment then stood up. "C'mon, we'll ask Scotty if you can listen. This is a pretty hardcore song: My Darkest Days is a bada** band." he nodded, starting to walk slowly, twirling the headphones.

"Dude! I listen to rad sh*t!" Maddy said, purposefully cursing so Marty knew she was 'mature'. Every song on her Ipod had at least 12 F-bombs. She fished it out and started playing her collection of the Sex Pistols, The Casualties, The Exploited, The Unseen.
"See!" She said, "I'm not the average 15-year-old." She tried explaining.

"I listen to mosta that too, dude. But only a Brit could find the weird a** sh*t Scotty listens to. Just chill." Marty stated, patting her head like a cat. He had obviously had something other than that cigarette. "Who knows, maybe 'yer cool enough to have a jam session with us." He replied playfully.

Maddy hated being younger, she'd always been the 'younger kid' ever since she could remember. Since her brother was much older, his friends always refered to her as 'the kid' or even worse 'the little kid'' she grimaced. And since Maddy hung out with older people, they always were careful about what they did or said around her. They always doubted her, unsure of why she was there.
"I think I'm cool enough." She grumbled, taking another drag and puffing out the smoke. Still a bit frustrated.
