I think the instant activation is a really good idea. It would also be an excellent resolve as to how members can help the moderators. It could also possibly free up a lot of time to work on other things on the sites. (Keeping up to date on fandoms of the week, more time to keep track of members behaving, etc.)

We already have this for characters on the sources, that's why so many "bad" ones are active in the first place. I'd like this system to be used for other sections of the sources. However this would place a lot more responsibility on members to report things that they find instead of us dealing with them before they get activated. In theory this could be a big help in solving popular complaints on here such as mods being busy, as well as members wanting to help us.

I personally don't think that any part of the sight should be automatically uploaded. As seen with the character section, which is a mess of unrelated and poorly done work, I think that anything uploaded to the sight should be validated by the mods first. Members do want to be involved, but looking at it realistically, normal members will get bored of looking through galleries and will eventaully stop. Then every section of the site will be as messed up as the character section. I think that members just need to let the mods do their work and be patient. There is a lot of work to do, and adding more mods may help, but in the mean time, I don't think trying to lessen their work load by relying on members to report things will work at all.

Hmm, ok, how about this :
A voluntary "team" 'checks' images, they make sure that it follows the rules, and if it does they "OK" it and then it appears to the mods as a image that needs to be validated. If the image is not ok they "no" it and it appears to the mods as a image that needs to be deactivated. This takes place before a image is validated, thus removing the instant activation.

That could work if it was pulled off correctly, but it seems like there would be too much back-and-forth communication between too many people. Not to mention the bandwidth increases.
Personally, I'm all for the instant activation. It seems like people are annoyed enough at some things that there's no worries about reporting inappropriate images, etc.
I'm not sure if it's been said before, but maybe there could be a system where anything reported is sent to "limbo" where it waits for a mod to either deactivate it or null the report. Also, a message could be sent to the owner of whatever it was that was reported, and they could restore it until a mod makes the decision. That would eliminate any "Oh, check out so-and-so" "Where?" "I could have sworn it was right here". This wouldn't be troll-proof, but the thing is, nothing can bar the site from attacks completely.

I'm personally extremely 50/50 with this automated activation idea. It's sacrificing quality over quantity, something I've never liked. In some fan creation on sources it would be a delight, of course, but in some areas I think it's a complete pain in the butt, especially in Fan Characters. There is too much freedom for fan character creation, NOTHING like for fan-fics, art, images and ect, so therefor, I say they remove automatic activation from Fan Character creation. It won't kill you to wait a day or two to have them activated, remember in life you don't get what you want right then and there. It would help this be followed closely, which I am all for. Now I wouldn't mind seeing automatic activation in things less commonly abused like Fan Arts, Fan Fictions, Gamebooks, Music but within reason. There will always be people out there that don't like the website and want to trash it in the areas people use it the most. Rules where posted and I think they speak my voice very well to. I've always known to run a site you need dedication, and nothing is easy, so a little effort wouldn't hurt anybody and it would be beneficial, clearing out the 'trash' to help the site get back on it's feet. Oh and of course Mods have a life, I would know xD but they also signed up to the task of maintaining a website, voluntarily, a bit of effort wouldn't hurt. In no way am I lashing out at mods, I love our staff. --xoxo Doctor

Again, I hate to be the one to bring the problems, but that is almost like double-activation and will take twice as much time then when only a moderator activates it on their own. Unless I don't understand this proposition correctly, that is the fault in this idea.
