Especially since they're dogs. xD Dogs don't care about their age, they just breed and hunt (that dosen't make them useless). They mate at any age they want, only if they have the strenght.

I freaking love Dusty, maybe more then any other Balto fan.. but.. I can't act like she's a major character. So she shouldn't have such a big argument. That's exactly what I'm thinking, why are people fighting over something so stupid? Well, as I said before, I probably wouldn't give Kodi nearly so much thought if people weren't always throwing hate on him. Besides, there's some moral implications behind it all too. What does it say about someone if they dismiss Kodi/Dusty simply because Kodi's desire to do the right thing akes him "boring" in their eyes? Where are we headed when people say he'd be a terrible mate because he's (gasp) responsible?

JUST because I said that they were dogs and dogs don't 'care about age' doesn't mean I said they don't have morals and feelings. What does age have to do with those things anyway?? With dogs, it's natural. And I even EXPLAINED that I thought there was hardly any year's difference between the characters, because people seem to love getting their panties in a twist about things like that. Simply stating that dogs don't care about age (because, quite simply.. they don't) does not mean I don't think (or noticed, for that matter) they're given more human-like qualities and personalities. I was just stating facts. In the end, they're still dogs.. and dogs don't live very long or care about such silly things. To an extent, there's nothing 'immoral' about love anyway. Most of the time. Jeez.

Jeez. The point is that they are not just dogs. Besides, you offer no evidence to suggest that Dusty is older than any of the others. In fact if attitude is anything to go by, Kodi's the oldest one of the bunch. At the root, your logic is self-defeating. You insist on them having canine values when it comes to age and human values - namely yours - when it comes to personality. And so far as I've seen, your presentation of the both, particularly the latter, contradicts their overall protrayal in the film, at least as far as development goes. They progress in the film from an attitude of focusing on that which is good for them to the higher moral level of going out of their way to help an "enemy." You, on the other hand, insist on chaining them to a backward and detrimental attitude of basing choices, namely the choice of a mate, on which is more enjoyable. And you don't even present evidence that they would enjoy the same things you do. Simply put, you seem to want to pick their mix of human and canine traits arbitrarily, whether or not it matches what's actually shown.

It would seem as tho the only "logic" ever (not my logic, no way, any evidence I've given isn't logical in the slightest. Nope.) is it's only "natural" for that if a single girl has a choice between men, that she pick not only the most boring man, but pick the one who's liable to make mistakes, can't think on his own, and is easily persuaded by society as a whole. As for canines, they don't pick the best possible mate, nope. It's only natural that if there's three male dogs and one female dog, the weakest and most undersized of all the males get her. It's just nature, guys, I don't write the rules.

It's just nature, guys, I don't write the rules. I thought the strongest male gets the female. What happens if she is mate with some other dog? Well, Ching, it's not unheard of for animals to choose mates which fly in the face of such supposed norms. I read a case, for example, where a male and female cockatiel, both fine specimens, inhabited the same cage for some time. The owners, naturally, hoped they would breed, but nothing happened. Then another female, who was hardly attractive by human or avian standards (she had a tendency to pluck out most of her own feathers) was added, and in no time flat she and the male had a clutch of eggs. I don't remember any mention of the "more attractive" female's reaction to this, but ultimately she stayed eggless. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find such things happen with dogs on occasion as well. Besides, cat's argument holds about as much water as a wheat sifter. For one thing, when it comes to survivability (which she seems to be implying as the key legitimate basis for choosing a mate), listening to one's parents trumps brute strength almost every time. Just look at what happens to a partridge chick if it doesn't hold still when it's mother signals it to, or doesn't follow her example on where and when to perch or feed. Imagine how long a fox or would would last if, as an infant, it never paid attention when its mother demonstrated how to hunt. The very act of "being "easily persuaded" by "society" (and let's not forget it wasn't Ralph taking a stand against his entire team, even going so far as to turn his back on his lifelong dream to help someone who tried to take his living away from him) which cat mocks is more vital to survival, in the wild or in civilization, than her notions of survival of the fittest could ever be. She just hates Kodi because he's responsible. Ironically, without people who were at least somewhat responsible she wouldn't be alive. Nobody would.

She just hates Kodi because he's responsible. Ironically, without people who were at least somewhat responsible she wouldn't be alive. Nobody would. I don't what you're talking about, can you simplify it? I can try. The first part boils down pretty simply: some animals don't always pick the healthiest, strongest, or most attractive mate (by their standards or ours) available. I don't know if that includes dogs, but it wouldn't surprise me. As for the second part, cat is quick to ridicule Kodi because he took his job so seriously and because he allowed others to "influence" him "too easily." This falls flat for two reasons. One, both his dedication to his job and his eventual decision to go help Duke were born of a high regard for his parents, which as a rule is far more valuable both among humans and animals than mere brute strength (which cat almost invariably favors when it comes to males in fictional pairings). And two, standing up to one's best friends and basically calling them selfish slackers (which is what his speech to them in the boiler room amounted to), not to mention turning one's back on a lifelong dream career, does not equal "being too easily influenced." He may have started out that way, but he changed.
