Rue stuck out her tongue at him, shoving his arm lightly.
Kara nodded. "Ready," she replied, grinning. Taking a prepatory breath, she painted a look of fear on her face, and ran to them. "Rue! Lark! They found us!"
"What?!" Rue cried, whirling around.
"They found us!" Kara repeated, keeping up the prank rather convincingly. Who knew she was such a great actress? "The Erasers...we didn't see 'em coming," she gasped. "There are tons out there! You gotta help Pascal!"

Pascal burned away the tissue paper, then threw the bomb away from him, and it began the loud gunfire noise. He began shouting and screaming, "HELP! The whitecoats! The Erasers! They're- AUGH!" he began making noises like he was being shot. He tried his best to hold in his laughs as the firearm bomb did it's job, and even better. Scaring the two oldest Flock members.
Lark's face suddenly began expressing fear. How could they have found them so fast? He streaked past Kara at the sound of Pascal screaming. When the shouts ceased, his heart raced so much it could have exploded right there in his chest. He remembered Pascal's wing was already hurt, so he didn't have any escape if they really had... he didn't want to think about that. They beat them once, and could do it again.

Kara raced out behind Rue.
Rue stood at the entrance of the cave, hands on her hips and a disapproving look on her face. "Pascal! You almost gave me a heart attack!" she scolded.

By then, Pascal was already on the ground, rolling with laughter. He choked out, "Lark's face was the funniest!" He held his stomach and tried to sit up, but fell over again from laughing. "What a great use for firecrackers!"
Lark marched over stiffly and grumpily, then grabbed Pascal's sweatshirt hood, picked him right off the ground to see him eye-to-eye. He poked his finger into Pascal's chest. "You. Are..."
Pascal was bracing for Lark's explosion, eyes downcast and biting his lip sheepishly.
Lark's steely blue eyes closed softly for a moment, then he took a deep breath, smiled and said, "...an evil genius." He suddenly turned angry again and dropped Pascal. "But if you ever try that again, I'll kill you before the Erasers can even get to you!"

Rue couldn't suppress a grin, a laugh slipping out reluctantly. "Okay, maybe it was a little funny," she admitted. "But do it again, and I'll do the same as Lark. Or worse."
Kara laughed. "It was more than a little funny. It was hilarious!"

"Got that right." Pascal agreed, still laughing, giving Kara a fist bump. "You should've seen the looks on your guys' faces!"
"You guys nearly gave me a heart attack!" Lark scolded at Kara, shaking his quivering finger at the both of them. Then, he made a downwards motion with his hands to calm himself down, and held up Iggy's book. "Anyway, that event aside, look what we found!"

Kara rushed forward. "What are they?" she asked eagerly. "They look kinda dusty. Oh, that one had an "I" on it! What does it stand for? What's that stack of papers? How-?" She was cut off by a hand covering her mouth. She pried it off, looking sheepish. "Sorry," she mumbled.
Rue let her hand dropped. "They're a bunch of journals. The "I" stands for Iggy. The stack of papers is printouts from Dad's...Fang's, blog."
"Fang had a blog?" Kara asked. "We-eird," she said, drawing the word out into two syllables.
"Yes, he had a blog," Rue said impatiently. Why did Kara have to speak so much? It could get a bit irritating after a while. "Nudge gave you a bunch of fashion magazines, too. They're a bit dusty too, but..."
"Oh!" Kara said, brightening. "I wanna read 'em now!"
"First, I think we should all read our parents' journals," Rue said. She was itching with impatience.

Pascal immediately stopped laughing. He almost didn't want to see his mother's, Angel's, journal. He loved his mother, but he knew how twisted she was, and how she nearly killed Rue's mom. "I...uh.."
Lark threw Gasman's and Angel's combined journals to Pascal, since the Gasman, sadly, never had kids. Oh well, it was Pascal's uncle anyway. "Here, bud." he said. "No worries, they're here too." Lark then sat cross-legged on the cave floor and opened his father's book.
"That not what-" Pascal began, but he decided he didn't want to disturb Lark in his brightest moment. He decided to sit next to Lark on the ground, feet extended in front of him, and opened Gasman's. "Aren't you going to read yours, Rue?"

Rue nodded, and quickly tossed Kara what Nudge had left her. She gave a quick smile of thanks, then disappeared into the dusty pages. Rue opened her's slower, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor. She wanted to savor each word; other than the necklace (made out of an odd assortment of things; snake jaw bones, feathers, glass) it was the only connection she shared with her mom. And the only one she shared with Fang.
She skipped the first few pages; it seemed only to be an introduction. She wanted to get to the "meat". She began reading, Max's familiar scrawl filling the yellowed page; The funny thing about imminent death is it really snaps everything into perspecive.

Lark let his ocean blue eyes scan the pages, the words flowing naturally across the pages. This is amazing. He thought. My own father telling the story of his family's legacy. It read, 'It all began with a trip over a table that someone misplaced right next to the stairs.'
Pascal simply sat next to Lark, reading the first page of Gasman's book, the cover of Angel's journal closed. 'You know, The day should always start with a good ol' rip. And that's just what I did.' Pascal chuckled at his uncle's way of seeing the world.

Ooc:// Sure. And thankies ^^ Gazzy is alot like my brother, so I've got some material to work from ^_^
The last page of his father's journal came much too fast for Lark. He flipped the page over and over again, as if it would make more pages appear. That's it? he thought. It seemed... unfinished to him. Probably because Max didn't end up saving the world. That was now Rue's job. He closed the back cover, letting his hand slide down from the top to the bottom, the smooth leather feeling like polished marble. Iggy hadn't written much about Lark's mom; mostly because he was still a teenager when he wrote it. Still, he grinned slightly, delighted to have learned about how his father was when he was younger. He nudged Pascal's side. "Hey," he said in a hushed tone, his whisper sounding more like a shout because of the strict silence, "You done yet?"
Pascal snorted, his eyes fluttering open. "Hm-m?" he mumbled groggily. "Wha-?"
Lark rolled his eyes, more disappointed at himself for not expecting Pascal to get sleepy easily, as usual.

Rue shut the book, running every single word over and over again through her mind. "Well," she said, in attempt to break the ponderous silence, "that was...interesting." And rather cool, in her mind. But she neglected to say that part aloud.
Kara, a surprisingly fast reader, was already browsing the magazines, having read the journal. She let out exclamations of awe at points, or sighs of pleasure. She was obviously in "fashion heaven".

"I thought it was great!" Lark exclaimed, not caring about sustaining his cool. "I mean," he continued, "This is my dad talking. About all those stories we thought were made up. Don't you think that's cool?" He wasn't always the optimistic one when talking about his parents, but now knowing that they weren't really liars trying to make up a story to explain their wings gave him peace of mind, but also an inexplicable thrill.
"I didn't read my mom's." Pascal admitted, looking down at his lap. "I... just couldn't."

Rue's gaze softened. "I understand," she said, placing a comforting hand on his arm. Turning to face the others, a grin spread across her face. "Someone mentioned in these pages is still alive. And I know where to find him."
Kara pulled herself out of the pages, looking up curiously. "Who is it, Rue?" she asked.
Rue paused. "...Jeb."
Ooc:// Is that okay? I get that he would be really old, (like late 80s) but I think it would be kinda cool.
