Kenya had watched the whole scene from a convenient tree; the foilage hid her, and her keen eyes allowed her to see. She had been ready to dive in to help the wolf half, when others came in. They only downside of her position is when the truck had come spiraling off of the road, effectively destroyed thanks to one of the other winged halves. The front had whacked solidly against her truck, almost swaying her from her perch. She silently thanked her wings for saving her from a nasty fall once again, their warm weight pressing comfortingly into her back.
Kenya had watched the conversation for a while, straining to hear. If only my ears were as sensitive as my eyes... she mused. While she could make out their lips moving, she couldn't make out words, nor could she move closer; they would see her for sure, and she prefered to remain anonymous. At this point, it was obvious they weren't hostile, but years of hiding had left her wary of strangers.
She was pulled rudely out of her train of thought by the sudden feeling of slipping. A cry of surprise left her, barely audible in the still air. Unconsiously, her hands had released their grip on the sturdy branch, and she had leaned forward slightly, lost in thought as she was. She spread her wings out in time for her to parachute, rather than fall, to the ground.
The only problem was that they were sure to have heard her; she had snapped many twigs on the way down, and her landing was less than graceful. She grimaced as she pulled her wings against her back again, her heart pounding as she waited from figures to emerge from the bushes and trees around her.
Rue cocked her head, listening intently. Had she heard snapping sounds? Curiousity overwhelmed her, and she walked into the forest impulsively, senses on high alert. She made her way cautiously through the trees in time to see yet another Half, pulling wings against her back. She sucked in a breath in surprise and disbelief; how many were there here?
Shaking her head, she walked into the half's view. "Nice wings," she said, an indicator that she wasn't surprised by this. "I would show you my tail but I would prefer to remain in human form. It's easier to communicate." She gave a small grin, secretly wondering why she was being so social recently.
Kenya was undoubtedly surprised by the new arrival's comment, but managed to grin in return, though her's was a bit forced. "Wolf, right?" she asked, checking. "I saw the whole scientist thing. You've got some pretty cool allies."

"Well, no," said Ilac, still slightly uncomfortable. "Most everyone knows what a love spring is, how to avoid it, stuff like that. I believe that the dove was injured, and my mom disregarded the fact that it fell into a love spring just to save it. So, the unintended consequences..." He stopped again. "I left because most halves are actually outcasts." He turned to witness another half-bird fall from a tree. "Are you okay?" he asked, running over.

"Fine," Kenya said, looking at the half. He was one of the winged ones too; she couldn't help but be fascinated, ecspecially since his wings were still showing. While she had seen other halves at the labratory, she hadn't ever seen another winged one. This was her first encounter with one up close. The only thing she had to do was introduce herself.
Her feathers got a bit ruffled as she unfolded her wings slightly; no point in pulling them in anymore. It started to ache after a few hours. "I'm Kenya," she greeted, holding out her hand.

The presence of a new Half dropping down from a tree quickly grabbed Syvor's attention. He snapped his head in her direction, realizing their wings were somewhat similar in structure, even though Syvor's were more masculine, and more of a reddish-brown than fawn colored. "Do we..." he began, then turned back to Lily, "...know her?" The number of Halves in the field of the school was starting to make his head spin. How many of them were there?
Lily's answer was just beginning to sink in to him. He slowly turned back to her, a look of disbelief on his face. "What did you say?" he breathed, rather rudely, for Syvor anyway. He took a light step towards her. "Why wouldn't you want to have a conscience?" he asked accusingly. "Just because you're a Half-Demon doesn't mean you're not allowed to care about something. Maybe it's just because I was raised by a Half-Angel, but the last time I checked, the last thread holding this screwed-up world together is a person's will to care."
What she said had upset him so much, he turned swiftly and stormed away. She may not have meant anything offensive, but it didn't matter. The primary feathers in his wings swayed with his steps as he tried to take a deep breath and calm himself down. When he reached the end of the woods and out into the field crammed with Halves galore, he loosened his expression and approached the new girl. To make sure she saw he also had wings, he let them fold in a little bit and frame the edges of his body in russet feathers. "Um," he started, his brown eyes wide, admiring her thinner, gentler-colored wings, "What's your name?" he asked, wanting his mind to process something besides Lily's comment.

"Nice to meet you, Kenya," said Ilac courteously, shaking her hand. "I'm Ilac." He grinned. "So, I'm far from being the ony winged Half, although chances are I'm the only natural one." He laughed at his joke.

Lily was stunned into silence by Syvor's outburst. She certainly hadn't been prepared for it, and when it had come, she could do almost nothing but stand there speechless as he criticized her and then stormed off. Then, like a passing summer rain shower, he was out of her presence and off talking to one of the other kids without even a single glance back at her. Her lavender gaze followed him all the way to the other girl and her eyebrows knit together in an expression she hadn't worn in a long time; guilt.
The sting of his words still resonated in her ears and when she couldn't stand it anymore, she looked away from the scene in the clearing and stared at a tree nearby. 'And that's why most days I wish I didn't have a conscience,' she thought to herself. 'Then I wouldn't have to feel like this; sad and guilty because I've upset the closest thing I've had to a friend in a long time, angry because I didn't even want to be here anyway or have a friend, confused because this shouldn't be happening to me.' She paused in her thought and glanced back at the group. Something flared in her and she scoffed at herself. As mad as she was at Syvor, and as hurt as she felt, she knew it wasn't his fault. And she hated having that knowledge.
"This is so stupid," she whispered to herself. Then she composed herself, pulling back on that cool, icy shell and taking away all signs that Syvor had actually fractured it. She strode back out into the open, her mouth in a thin line that gave her a slightly irritated look. She glanced at the rest of them, still not really knowing many of their names, but any other direction was better to look in than his.

"Kenya," she repeated. She absently pulled a twig out of her secondary feathers, one of the many she had gained while crashing through the tree towards the ground. She looked at tha Half's wings closely; they looked farily similiar to her's, only a bit longer and slightly more muscled. If you excluded the difference in color as well.
"If you don't mind me asking, whats your's?" she asked, managing to pull her gaze away from his wings and towards his face instead.

He brushed his hands down one of his wings, causing a loose feather to fall off into his hands. Syvor held it upright so she could see it. It was a fiery reddish orange with chocolate brown speckles, and two invisibly thin, light brown lines on each side, forming two thin V's on the feather itself. "Mine's a Red Hawk, like the kind you'd find in a desert." He twirled the feather between his index finger and thumb, then casually opened his fingers and let the wind catch it. "Yours looks kind of similar." he continued, squinting at her more feminine wings. "Besides color and thickness, of course." he added, opening his eyes normally again and switching his gaze back at her eyes. "What's your other half?"
Again his mind drifted off to Lily, who had probably escaped off by herself by now. Had he been overreacting a bit? She didn't mean anything by the comment, and yet he'd taken it like a direct insult. Syvor promised himself that after he received Kenya's answer, he'd stalk back into the woods to find her, and even apologize for his actions. How ironic, at the moment he made that oath to himself, he was regretting his strong conscience too.

"Ferruginous hawk," Kenya said. It was interesting and coincedential that the other winged Half was a hawk as well, albeit a different type.

"Well," began Syvor, "It was nice to meet another Half with a hawk side as well, but I need to... take care of something." With that, he turned and began walking back towards the woods, but realized that Lily has followed him out and was standing near everyone, so he simply strode over, making his voice quiet. "I'm really sorry for storming off like that." he explained, a hand on his forehead. He didn't know what else to say, and he looked into her pale lavender eyes as he repeated even softer, "I... guess I just have a pet peeve."
Ooc:// Edited, and sorry for shortness.

Taylor was slightly confused with all the silent commotion. He looked at the new girl. She was supposedly named Kenya. The least he could do, the ghost kid decided, was to introduce himself. "Another half hawk hm? Well welcome to the club of halves." He slightly made it a joke, but since it was a bit of a serious matter when it came to the scientists, he cleared his throat and said, "Well, nice to meet you anyway. I'm Taylor. Half ghost."

Kenya exhaled lightly. "Not the best club to be in sometimes," she said. "Nice to meet you, though."
"The scientists we saw probably weren't alone," Rue said, interrupting. "They probably had reinforcements around here...someone may come up to check on why they haven't reported back, if that is the case." SHe grinned, violet eyes flashing. "Anyone object to skipping class?"

Taylor chuckled. "I definetely won't be objecting to that." He shot Rue a wink. "But where do we go now?" he asked, turning towards the others. "I mean... well..." You could clearly tell he was at a loss for words, but it wasn't really obvious what it was he was trying to say. What he was trying to get out though, was that he had been on the run almost his entire life. He had pretty much run out of hiding places. He hoped someone else knew a place they could go to. He couldn't be sure, though, until he opened his trap to speak. "Well, I've been running my entire life. It may be my fault they came here for all we know. But... I don't really know anywhere else we could go..." he trailed off, having gotten out (somewhat) what he meant to.
