Jenna felt her heart skip a beat when Steele slipped. His yelp seemed to echo across the mountain, but then again, she wasn't sure if it was just in her head from fear. When he made it over with Star and Boris, she let out a sigh of relief as she waited to see who would come across next.

Balto was about to tell Muk and Luk to go ahead after a sigh of relief from Steele calling over through the roar of wind, when he wondered if the bridge would hold the team and medicine after the bears weight had crossed. He didn't want to play God in this. If the bridge were to fall after one of the teams crossed- he stopped himself. Just the thought was already haunting his mind. But he knew if the team fell, not only would the team and himself die, but so would Nome! Thinking carefully for another moment, he weighed his options and made his decission. He wasn't happy about how he felt, but he was going to make the the call to tell the bears to wait when...

Luk murred into Muk's furry ear. He pointed to Balto then the bridge and did a weird half jig, after words pointing to themselves and sitting.
"Very right!" Muk said. "You go ahead Balto, we'll be right behind you after you cross!" He beamed up at the wolfdog.

"Ok guys, if you're sure..." Balto replied stunned. The bears just nodded as one and he smiled back. "Alright then, but I want you over just as soon as we've crossed." he called to the team, "Mush!" He pulled forward against the still strong wind, snow and what felt like ice stung his eyes and face, but he went on. His large paws and claws giving him easy grip, though he had a hard time keeping his pace when he crossed an icy patch. The rest of the team sounded like they were doing fine. He stopped once to look behind and saw Kaltag stumble, but he too kept going. He kept his eyes on the other side and Jenna, and soon, she was standing by him once more.

OOC: we should celebrate if we make it to page 10! lolz :3
Don't worry. I'm feeling more inspired, now that the collage caos has died down.

Hey Godzillawolf, sorry I've been away for so long. I just started college, and it's been very difficult to adjust.
Hope you've been well. Ready to get into this again?

Balto felt his paws loosing their grip slightly when he about finally made it across. He thought for a moment he might fall when Steele grabbed him by the scruff and helped pull him up the slippery slope. When he let go, Balto looked in Steele's eyes. It still felt strange that the large dog wasn't trying to push him off the cliff instead of helping him up, but he was greatful. "Thanks, Steele." After so, he turned back to Jenna and brushed against her shoulder.

The cinnamon husky rubbed Balto's neck, relieved that he made it over safely. She glanced at Steele and smiled a thank you for helping them.

Balto turned back around then, to the two polar bears just starting to cross the dangerous ice bridge...

Meanwhile... Muk and Luk were examining the icey path. Luk suddenly turned his head when the wind changed and made a whimpering noise. "What is it, Luk?" the smaller polar bear asked sniffing the air along with his large companion. The wind changed direction again too fast, and they could no longer detect the strange scent... making them all the more nervous, as they started to walk.
Polar bears have an very good sense of smell, thought maybe they might've smelled the mysterious watcher.

Steele smiled. "Glad to help." he said. "I've made a lot of bad choices." he said. "I just want to do good things to cancle them out." he said. "I feel I better start before old Karma starts repaying me the bad stuff." he said. "I guess it took me falling off a cliff and nearly freezing to death in a blizzard to get that through my thick skull." he said. And a few years of suffering that bad Karma before coming back in time with a spirit fox, thank you Spirit Guide, by the way.

Nikki sighed as the bears reached the other side, almost the moment the bears were on solid ground, the ice bridge crumbled into the revene, luckily no one or nothing was on it. Nikki let out a sight of relief. "That was too close for comfort."

OOC: It's fine, I'll start college next year, so then I'll know what that's like. This may be a good time for the Kaltag and Star gag, considing Kaltag didn't get to finish the last one.

Boris jumpped on the bears and for once hugged them too tightly. "Thank goodness you are being alright, I was being worried sick." he said, showing he really did care about the bears, seeing that the moment they were off the bridge it felll, it was a good time to.

The mysterious creature snarled and ran off ahead of them, she was gald about the weather covering her strong scent, considering she was a big predator, it was strong anyway, it didn't help that she was in heat.

OOC: I normally have Kira rampage in heat because big predators are more agressive during that time.

OOC: Good idea, after seeing 'Snakes on a Plane' I can imagine that happening. And as if she weren't going to be challenging enough, this'll make it more interesting. Oh, and we have to get Steele's mate in here soon to right?

The fox smiled, "Anytime."

Balto nodded to Steele saying, "You have a good start, if I wasn't already convinced, I'd think you weren't really Steele." He grinned his thanks at him and turned to the boys.

"We almost didn't make it Uncle Boris!" Muk said fearfully hugging the goose back while trying to breathe.
Luk whimpered and nodded in agreement, also hugging the two tightly.

Kaltag sighed with relief "Phew! One more second t-they would have-c-could have-might have-"

OOC: I leave the rest of that sentence up to you! ^^

OOC: Never seen that movie, seems like a good one. Yes, once Kira forces them to take a detour into her turf.

"Balto...you could say I'm a new Steele, I've changed a lot, realizing you've wasted your life does that to you." said Steele. "Coming close to death does that to you."

"You were almost giving me a heart attack." said Boris.

"They almost died!" yelled Star.

Balto assumed when Steele mentioned almost dying, he must've meant when he fell off the cliff. "I really didn't want that to happen. But I'm relieved you survived. You don't and didn't deserve to die." He turned back to the path. "We'd better get back in line, we're running out of time."

Jenna nodded and took up her place by the wolfdog's side, slipping into the her harness she waited.

With a glare Kaltag raised a paw and brought it swiftly down on Star's muzzle. He growled softly and sat in place patiently for the others.

"We did! We almost did Uncle Boris!" Muk agreed with Star.

"Are you boys alright?" Balto asked.

"Yes, yes. Just a little scared is all." The polar bears nodded. "Don't worry about us, Balto!" Muk smiled reassuringly.

Balto didn‘t know how to reply to Steele‘s comment. Sure punishment is in order sometimes, but he wasn‘t the kind of guy who feels it‘s right for anyone to feel hated, and left out. He knew that better than anyone…

He was still stumbling for words, when a loud echoing bellow broke the sound of the quieting wind and falling snow. Balto‘s ears fell flat as he strained to see into the trees where he thought the sound came from. “What the…”

The polar bears were quaking. “W-what was that, B-B-Balto?” Muk stuttered looking around.

The wolf-dog glanced back at the team. They were exchanging worried looks, and some had their tails between their legs in a cowering position. He wasn‘t thinking to good himself. What ever that was… it sounded big… and mean.

He looked at Jenna, she barely flinched. Sure she noticed the sound, but she was focusing and practically straining on the harness to continue on the path ahead. She didn’t fear what caused the panic rippling through the rest of the team, she didn’t fear the elements, the only thing that had her concerned, was what was ahead… and if they got there in time.

Balto glanced back to the team again, and beyond them, he looked beyond the musher and the snow goose sharing his body heat. The medicine… Balto raised his ears and set his expression to pure determination. “Listen! I don‘t know what that was, I don‘t know what‘s ahead, but I know there are people, children, who need our help! We‘re their only hope, and I‘m not going to let that fade! We move forward! MUSH!” And with that, he started running, almost having trouble keeping up with Jenna.

OOC: Phew! *wipes sweat from brow* kinda proud of that post ^^
So when does the mysterious future mate of Steele come in, if she's still going to be in it?

Steele started running when Balto ordered, though he noticed some of the dogs still afraid. "Listin to Balto, he's right." he said. "Whatever's out there is big, had to be to make that sound. While that's scary, think about it, the bigger it is, normally the slower it is." he said. "So whatever is out there isn't going to be able to keep up with us if we keep running." he said. "And its on the other side of that crevice." he said. "It'll need to take a long way around to get to us." he said.

"Steele and Balto are being right." said Boris. "We have nothing to be worrying about at the moment." he said. "Except be getting there to late. So be working hard."

Star and Nikki nodded, speeding up. "Yeah, lets hurry."

OOC: After Kira lures them into her turf.

Now that I think about it... I think I've asked you about her a couple times already... hehe, sorry about that. ^^;

Balto looked back at Steele. What ever worries he had about that sound, were just about gone with the large dogs words. He smiled his thanks at Steele and looked ahead again, so as not to run into anything.
He started to think about what Steele said. They were more agile, and champion sled dogs, surely what ever it was they could out run it. But for now, they‘d have to pace themselves. If they used all their energy now and they did happen to cross it, they wouldn‘t have the strength to run (he‘d rather avoid fighting all together)…
He had some trouble keeping pace so Jenna would slowdown, but she soon understood and they ran in rhythm.

“Do you think we‘ll get there in time, Uncle Boris?” Muk asked fearfully while jogging along beside the sled with Luk.

OCC: I hope Kira comes in again soon, I’m runnin’ outta things to post…
