Brahma lay down in front of the entrance to the den, he was on guard duty now that they had a prisoner and that Angel had been attacked.
'Tula it doesn't matter, we need to get Jaka back' Caliban said, staring his mate in the eyes.
'I was licking his muzzle because Karba bit him, he thought he was trying to break up our family, but I do like your son, I would never hurt him' Shar said, tring not to cry as Caliban talked about killing her and her family.
Jaka looked at Dawn and Darla. 'It's ok Dawn' he said, looking sadly at Darla. As he looked at the two girls, he realised someone was missing. 'Where's Shar?' he said, peering past Brahma, she wasn't there!

Brahma lept to his feet, looking worridly(sp?) around for Shar. 'I thought she was right behind me, with Darla and Dawn' he said, 'and where is Trooper and Karba?'
'Oh I have a few ideas' Caliban said, also grinning evily and looking at his mate. He was very lucky to have Tula as a mate, all his other mates had left him after a few days, only Tula seemed to share his evil personality. And they had not had much success with pups either, after having 3 litters with only one survivor, which was Jaka. 'We could cut her up, and leave her for her parents to find, alive, but then she will die in their arms.'
Shar was now very scared, the two were talking of killing her now that they had finished with her. She took a step back, maybe she could run away or at least hide.
'Its ok, my dad is really mean, so I have to act tough too, but I really like Shar and Dawn and the rest of your family' Jaka said, he thought of where they had been when Brahma had taken him away. 'My dad might have Shar, if you guys have me' he whispered to Darla.

'No, not Dawn and Darla too' Brahma whimpered, 'I am losing all my children in one day.' He held his head up and closed his eyes, tears pricking at the corners, and he let out a long howl.
'No, I want her death to be long, and painful' Caliban said, the smile fading from his lips. 'Brahma needs to learn that he cannot cross me without losing something.'
Jaka crawled out of the hole. 'This way, if dad has got Shar he must have kidnapped her by the lake, he will still be there, but we have to hurry' he yelled, running in the direction of the lake.

Brahma looked where Angel was looking. 'What are they doing?' he said, he knew he really wanted to chase after them, but something inside him told him that this was like them growing up, and they had to do this alone, but he needed Angel's opinion. 'Do you think we should go after them?'
Caliban bared his teeth, but saw Jaka. 'Jaka, what are you doing, get over here and away from those kidnappers' he snarled.
'No dad, they aren't kidnappers, they are my freinds' Jaka said, staringhis father in the eyes. He raised his upper lip and snarled at his dad, something he had never dared to do before.
Caliban was shocked, his own son turning against him, and siding with Brahma's kids of all people. 'Jaka, come here now' he snapped. Jaka didn't move, and Caliban knew hat he would never listen to him.
'Jaka, Darla, Dawn!' Shar yelled, and dodged round Tula and ran towards her sisters and freind. She nuzzled Darla and Dawn, and whispered in Jaka's ear, 'thank's for coming back to get me' and then licked him on the nose.

Brahma nuzzled Angel happily. 'Your right, if we keep intervening they will never become independant, and they need to grow up' he whispered. He got up and wandered back to the den, peering over his shoulder at Angel. 'You coming?'
Trooper wriggled under his mother's paws. 'Get off me, I hate my dad' he growled, biting his mum's paws.
Caliban snarled, but felt sad at what his son was saying. 'If you are siding with them then you are no better than them, they are our enemies, you must not go with them.'
Shar whined as Jaka tried to free himself, but it turned to a snarl at Caliban's words. 'You selfish, jealous wolf, the only reaon you hate us is because you didn't get the wolfess you wanted, aren't you happy with what you have now?'
Karba looked where his brother was looking. 'i think you are right' he said, and ran over to his siblings. 'Whats going on?' he panted, looking at everyone.

'I love you too' Brahma whispered, and then lay down as well and fell asleep next to him mate.
Caliban looked back at Jaka, talking to Brahma's kids, and sighed. 'He is no longer our son, he had betrayed his family and so he is nothing to do with us anymore' he said bluntly, not making eye contact with Tula.
'I suppose I did, I have never been able to do that before, i've never had anyone on my side' Jaka said, but he felt bad, his dad looked so sad. He turned back to Dawn and smiled, and gave her a quick lick on the nose, but blushed quickly afterwards and turned his head away.
Shar helped Darla to explain, and turned to look at Jaka and Dawn. She saw them talking and then Jaka licked Dawn and blushed. A low growl escaped her throat as Shar narrowed her eyes, she liked Jaka, couldn't either of them see that.
'Well a lot has certainly happened while we were away, how come I miss all the fun' Karba grinned, looking at Trooper and Darla.

Caliban galnced one last time at his trecherous son before following Tula back to their den.
Jaka heard Shar growl and looked at her. 'Hey what's up Shar, is Tula or Caliban back' he said, glancing around nervously just in case.
'No they aren't, it's just...well, i'm...forget it' she stuttered, looking away angrily. Why can't I just tell him how I feel? she asked herself crossly.
'Oh, ok' Jaka said, frowning. Both the girls acted realy strangly around him, was it possible that they felt about him how he felt about them. He shook his head, wiping th thoughts from his mind, it wasn't possible.
'Yeh, but where's the fun in that' Karba laughed. 'But what are we going to do now, we really need somewhere to stay for the night, t's getting dark' he said, looking a the ever darkening sky.

'Good, then we will stay here until we can find a proper den deeper in the forest' Karba said and began pushing the others in.
'Wait, does that mean that i'm part of your pack' Jaka said, his eyes widening slightly. He had never been accepted as anything before, and to join a pack, well that would be amazing, especially as it was with Shar and Dawn.
Shar pushed her way past Dawn, and felt a drop of something wet on her nose. 'RAIN' she cried out, and dived into the den as it started to pour down with rain.
Jaka laughed and quickly followed Shar, the den was large and already warm from everyones body heat.
