2nd lol.. the killing spree was done during the day.. not at night.. so nightguards weren't at need. Read the link provided on the first page. His parent's WEREN'T with him. (And why the ''Lol''? There is nothing worthy of a laugh here. Not unless, of course, you think it's funny that the boy did this to those animals? Wow...I really wouldn't expect that from you. Odd.) am laughing at the fact that am being argued with when am simply saying things that should be true.. and why the rude comment ? just because i say lol doesn't mean i'm laughing at the animals.. guess you're lacking the thought of the lol or seeing the lol the wron way... and why would a zoo just randomly let in a 7yr old and i read the link ages ago... i don't feel like retaining the whole thing when there's simply nothing much to do when it's in not in my region ...

Godzillawolf wrote: IF it happened DURING the zoo's opening hours, I would say that would make it even more the Zoo's fault than if it happened at night, security is supposed to be even higher during the day for the visitor's protection. It just said early in the morning, it never said that it was open or not. It also tells us it was 30 minutes, how did no one, and he was in fact caught on secrutity camera, ether report this boy doing this or stop him? If the zoo was open, part of the blaim falls on the other people at the zoo, if it wasn't, the zoo securitity has part of the blaim. well where ever you live there's probably high security for a reason... and normally high security is needed for rare animals ... and to be honest AGAIN jeez i must say that who ever was watching this kid or who ever saw him go that area should have at least done something instead of watch and stare and ignore... so i don't know.. what do you expect me to do ??.. you people talk to me as if i was involved in the situation or near it... i'm taking guesses from the information left by the link it doesn't say it's parents were with him nor says anyone was watching over.. just says he killed animals.. like i said again it's somewhat a bad report when they don't have much details put into the report.. am sure people are wondering who was watching over him or if anyone even seen the boy go in this area.. anyways this is something i'm not going to continue arguing as if i'm actually in this.. so you two can again continue this and get the topic locked for arguing and continuing.. cuz i've said as far as i know and from knowledge

Hmm, well... this is Australia we're talking about. Mah country. The 'zoo' in my town costs no fee for entering. It does not have security cameras. You can walk right in, there is no one at the gate. There are fences to guard to animals, but only chain-link ones. The gates which the keepers go into are locked, but if one of them forgot to turn the key or something, someone could very easily walk in there. I've also been to a reptile park, where it would be MUCH easier to do the things which this child has done. While there are people at the gate, the enclosure or the crocodile has some fencing, but anybody could very easily climb over or drop something over there. And the lizard are pretty much the same, but in a tin enclosure rather than wood and fencing. Quote: I'm sure that the exotic wildlife in that zoo is not cheap, and if they really wanted to properly protect the precious lives of those innocent beings, they should have had higher security on the lookout. Who ever said anything about exotic wildlife? Goannas, crocodiles and lizard are quite common in Australian outback. In fact, I think the crocs in the reptile park that I went to were rescued. This reptile park was in Childers. Really hot place. Red soil. Sugar cane farms right along the highway. Not too many people living there in the town, the park itself is mostly a tourist location. This place was really well set up, the animals were well looked after. One of the 'pond-like things' the croc had was heated in winter. The zoo we are talking about could have very easily been one like this. Owned by caring people. Situated among caring people. Some kind of freak incident. The kid and the parents are to blame. Fully. The zoo has no (or very, very little) blame. EDIT: I've re-read this a little, and I do see that they have security cameras. And two fences were there, but none say how high they were. And if he could jump them, it obviously wasn't very high.

The child's family life should be investigated to see the care there could somehow have caused the kid to behave as he did. Perhaps there is a lot of anger in the household that would prompt such an outburst. If this or something similar is not the case, then yes perhaps they should check the child's mental health.

Yes, I think that would be helpful. This kid obviosuly has problems. I don't know what caused him to be like this, it might not simply be his family, it could be genetic, it can be genetic. But until more information is released, which I doubt it will due to privicy for the family which I respect, anything is just speculation.

What has the world come to??? Oh well, at least the zoo director's sueing that pitiful kid's parents. I, too, don't care squat about how old this kid is; a 7 yr old should have the basic judgement of right and wrong, like "Oh, I should stay with mommy and daddy instead of scaling this security fence" and "Oh, I should go back to mommy and daddy instead of slaying lizards with stones and feeding them to 'Terry'." Hehe, maybe he left his brain at home. lol Yes, this child should be investigated closely-by his parents, teachers, and anyone else who notices any other forms of angry outbursts/acting out, not to mention psychologists. If this kid's mental state is in good condition, a family counslor may help cear up family issues.

This incident is actually not that unusual in my mind. A 7 year old is still forming his moral compass of right and wrong and to a 7 year old it may seem fun to throw about animals and such for amusement. Its in the same area as pulling on an animals tail or gleefully tossing mice to a snake. It may seem sick but to a child its just all fun. Whats the harm etc. I think that what happened with this is just a step up from those examples.
Now this is in no way right but I find the idea that a child may be mentally ill over it a bit over the top (though he may be, its not certain) a bit silly. As said a child is not going to be fully aware of what is right and wrong. He is not garenteed to be some kind of mentally disturbed nut case. I mean even go as far as to say that his parents may not be that bad at parents generally but again, I don't know for certain.
What is a failing here is that the parents let him to do this. Sorry, they could of stopped him but did not or were not supervising him at the time and this happened. That is a failure on their part and if there is any damages that should be paid, they should pay it. You don't let a child run around and do that.
Finally, though I know it was way back in the thread, sending a child to prison or killing him for this is one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard and I'd advise those who said it to think about what they are saying.
