"Yeah, but you're the one who normally ends up landing on them." said Cachen. "That probably hurts them too."
Lena smiled back at Goldie. "Had any problems with Porcupines?"
"Yeah, but I don't think anyone likes landing on Porcupines." said Balto, chuckling. "Which also happens to the pups a lot." he said. "Not just Kai."

Kai shuddered, his fur on end. "I can't stand them..."
Goldie shook her head. "No not at all...They don't come around cities much I suppose."
Jenna couldn't help but chuckle at her Grandson's misfortune. "Poor Kai...have you had trouble with porcupines, Balto?"

Steele nodded. "I hope he finds that."Aniu turned into a porcupine and snuck up behind the still reeking Cain. She jumpped up, driving her quils right into Cain's groin before vanishing.OOC:...  Ow... "Well at least the quils are easier to remove than skunk spray." said Cachen."Well if you're hanging around us, get ready to run into them." said Lena, smiling."Yeah, when I was a little pup." said Balto. "I once fell and landed on one between my hind legs, that was one of the most painful things I can remember." he said, shivering at the memory. "It hurt a lot getting the quils out."

All the fur on Cain's body was on end when Aniu did this. A strangled whimper come from his throat. And he knew it'd be difficult to get them out.
Kai nodded. "Hurts just as much as getting sprayed in the eyes, though."
Goldie gulped, looking wide eyed. She'd known strays who had gotten porcupine quills stuck in them before.
Jenna winced, unable to imagine the pain. "How many times have you gotten hurt?" she asked.

"True, but it's easier to get rid of quils than the spray in your eyes if you're not near water." said Cachen.
"But we know how to deal with them, it's happened enough times." said Lena.
"Ummmm...I lost count." said Balto. "Not so much sense I became a hero, unless some other problem happens." he said. "Ask Boris, he'd know better, he treated all the wounds."

Goldie laughed and nodded. "Ever consider your Mama may have a pup that looks like your Grandma?"

Steele nodded. "I just don't want to get too close, I want Goldie to grow up without me for awhile, so its not too painful for her to see me again, I want it to be special...for her to get to feel what a real family is like, not just a caring father and a cruel brother."
"We don't need to jynx ourselves to run into one of those animals." said Cachen.
Lena giggled. "I never thought about that." she said. "It'd be weird!"
Balto chuckled. "Well Boris is very good at herbs and stuff, he might not look like it but he is."

While missing you will be good, and will strengthen your bond with her, you are wrong about one thing; You were the best thing for her, you were her Father." she laughed and thumped her forehead. "What am I saying? You ARE her Father."
Kai nodded. "Gotta point there."
Goldie giggled, and shook her head. She could get used to this.
Jenna laughed. "I say that because it's hard to believe Boris didn't nag you to death."

Cachen nodded. "Yeah, it was one of the first thing that happened when we came out of the den, Lena and Tai got skunked."
"Speaking of weird, apparently, our 'uncle's' a goose and we have friends who are nice polar bears." said Lena, smiling.
"He always had my best at heart." said Balto. "What's a bigger suprise is I don't honk instead of bark." he said, smiling.

Meike nodded. "Well, my Mother was killed by fur-traders when I was very small, so I only had my Father..But oyu are right-a little girl needs a Mother figure to look up to. And do not forget Jenna." she chuckled, knowing Steele had had an attraction to Jenna in the past.
Kai nodded. "I remember wanderign off and getting my paw quilled by a baby porcupine."
Goldie laughed hard. "Can't wait to meet them!"
Jenna laughed and nodded. "You turned out...okay." she joked.

Lena nodded. "Our family is weird, our auntie is the Alpha of a wolf pack."
Balto chuckled. "It helpped to have a good parent." he said. "But I wished I had a mother." he said. "That's one of the reasons Steele probably wanted to give Goldie to us, so she'd have at least one mother figure in her life."
