The red husky knew Hailey was watching him, but didn't say anything again.

Hailey smiled. She laid her head down and drifted into a deep deep sleep.

Denno fell asleep, too. When he woke, the child was gone, but Hailey was still there. Hesitantly, Denno scooted closer to her and, after licking her cheek, he closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep again.

Hailey sleeps. She felt something touch her but did not care.

Unfortunately for him, Denno couldn't find a way to go back to sleep, so he stayed awake and looked at the wall.

Hailey whimpered a little in her sleep.

"Oh, boy." Denno nuzzled Hailey a bit to comfort her. "I'm here."

Hailey curled in a ball and hid her face.

"Hailey," Denno said as he stood up and walked in front of her. He pawed at her back. Why is she hiding? he thought and sat down.

Hailey looks at him a little

Denno waited for a reply.

Hailey says."Yes?"

Now he had no idea what to say.
"...hi."

Hailey smiled. She started to shiver a little.

Denno lied down close to her. "You seem cold," he said to explain himself. She's cold. That's the only reason why I'm next to her he told himself. N-not because I like her.
