He blinked "Uh... y-yeah... he probably is..." he muttered standing up, he cursed himself for not having the nerves to tell her what he wanted to.

"Meow." Rusty sounded and Adam just glanced at the orange cat.



Scotty snuck around the house and into the kitchen door, with Leann silently behind him.

"And you're gonna do what?" Leann whispered.

"I'm gonna get them together." Scotty replied with a hushed tone.

"How?" Leann asked in a whisper.

"Scare them."

"What?"

"Remember when we watched Paranormal Activity 3, how Sydney held on to Adam."

"Yeah..."

"Okay then." Scotty nodded creeping over to the door and peering in at them.

"So..are you gonna go..? Or stay or..?" Sydney questioned, petting Rusty on his back.

Scotty got a gruesome zombie mask from a drawer.

"You've gotta be kidding." Leann whispered.

Scotty shook his head "Sydney's easy to scare." he replied putting the mask on and continuing to listen to them.


"Uh... I um... gotta go..." Adam replied, reluctantly. turning toward the door still criticizing himself.

Since none of them where looking, Scotty snuck silently out and came up behind Sydney. He grabbed her suddenly by the shoulders and shouted: "RAWR!!"

Rusty yowled and sped off in terror, while Adam yelped and spun around at the sudden sound.

Sydney yelped and grabbed the first thing her hands touched, which happened to be her heavy books. She turned and smacked Scotty across the face, before stepping backwards.
"SCOTTY!?! What the he**!"

Scotty groaned for a minute, pulling of the mask then he started laughing.

"DUDE!" Adam Growled.

"You're sick!" Sydney snapped, tossing the books at Scotty's chest. She huffed and trotted upstairs, making sure to slam the door to her room.

Scotty caught the book and continued to laugh.

"What's your problem?!" Adam snarled.

"Well it's not like you where gonna tell her something important." Scotty shrugged.

Adam growled and took the book from him, then hit him over the head.

Scotty yelped and fell to the ground only to start laughing again. "The closest to a couple you two will ever get, is when she was all up on you while we watched that scary movie!"

Adam snorted.

Sydney sighed, holding her knees against her chest and sniffling. She'd been sure to lock her door as well.

Adam sighed and leaned back against the couch "Maybe you're right Scotty..."

Scotty grumbled and stood up, rubbing his head. "I'm sorry Red, I didn't mean... nevermind..."

"I dunno why I can't just come out and tell her..." Adam muttered.

Sydney flipped out her phone, before sighing. She couldn't text Joan anymore, she didn't have her new number..

Adam sighed and his shoulders slumped "I could've told her... d*mn, I was so close to asking her- but I couldn't say it..." he muttered. "I don't even know how to start..."

Scotty grinned widely, "Hey... I think I know what'll help you. C'mon!" he urged starting off toward his room. Adam and Leann blinked then followed him quickly.

Sydney tossed her phone at the wall, and whimpered.
"I hate my life."

By the time Adam and Leann got to his room, they found Scotty, prying the wooden floor boards up from inside his closet.

"Scotty, what are you doing?!" Leann asked with confusion.

"Getting.." he pushed a removed another board then came out with an old brown shoe box. "...This..." he puffed.

Adam and Leann looked at each-other then walked over to Scotty who sat the box on his bed and opened it. Inside where all kinds of strange little things, baseball cards, comic books, expired Halloween candy.

"Woah, I've not seen this stuff since we where kids!" Leann grinned.

"Oh yeah! This is all stuff from when we were what... eight?" Adam asked.

Scotty nodded and began to look through the various knick-knacks.

Sydney sniffled again, and sighed.

"Here Adam..." Scotty began picking up a small flower which was now withered and dry. "What is this?" Scotty asked holding it out to the red head.

"A dead flower?" Adam shrugged.

"No stupid! Think harder!" Scotty snapped slapping him in the back of the head.

Adam whined "I dunno-" he cut off when he took the flower in his own hand he suddenly remembered quiet clearly now, he remembered that day nearly nine years ago, when he first met Scotty and his Sister...

'Adam and his next door neighbor, Leann Penning, scrambled happily around on the monkey bars.

"C'mon Adam, you're so slow!" the girl with her brown hair pulled into a ponytail, huffed.

"Hush Leann!" Adam grumbled.

Leann grinned and tried to push her way past him but Adam misplaced his hand and gave a started yelp as he fell through the monkey bars. "Adam!" Lean cried trying to catch him, but failing.

Adam groaned and the sound of laughter made him open his eyes, standing over him was a black haired boy who laughed uncontrollably. Adam felt someone move under him and he looked over his shoulder to see a dark brown haired little girl, with green eyes. Adam stumbled upward as he watched the brown haired girl run off. "Adam, are you okay?" Leann asked swinging down and landing next to the boy with black hair.

"I.. um... yeah..." he replied.

"Sorry, about my sister, she's a cry-baby!" the black haired boy finally spoke.

"That was your sister?!" Adam whined.

"Yeah, that was my sister Sydney Ruine... oh and my name's Scotty!" he greeted.

"Hi Scotty!" Leann smiled, "I'm Leann Penning, and this is my neighbor Adam-" but the little red head had already wandered off in search of Sydney. You see, when you’re eight and someone lands on you from the monkey bars, it hurts. Adam wanted to make it up to her. His big blue eyes looked around and at the edge of the park, he spotted a small white object. He limped over to it, to found it was a small flower. Adam picked it and looked it over curiously then went back to looking for the girl. “Where did she go?” The boy muttered. The playground was relatively empty, but he still couldn't find her. “I’ll never be able to make her feel better.” He sighed then he perked when he heard crying beyond the play set. Adam blinked and stumbled towards the sound. Turning the corner, he saw huddled behind a bush, was the girl. She had her knees pulled to her chest, sobbing and all alone. Her head snapped up towards him as he approached her and extended his hand, the lily in it. He was happy when she wiped away some tears and took the flower from his fingers.

“I got this for you. I didn’t mean to fall on you. I slipped...” He watched her examine the flower then look up at him with a faint smile.
“How did you know this was my favorite?” the girl sniffed.
“I dunno.” They both smiled at each other. The girl stood up and walked to him.
“My name’s Sydney Ruine.” she told him.
“I’m Adam, Adam Johnson. Common, I'll take you back to your brother.” He took her hand a led her off.
((LOL I hope that sounds like how they all would've acted as little kids XD)
