"I won't hurt him or anything," Fen assured him. Permanently, he added mentally.

"Feh'ris! Feh'ris!" Lyna called, the toddler form of "Fenris".

Sadie stared at Lyna in shock. How could Lyna know Fenris' name? No human could speak a dog's language...or understand it.

Fenris cocked his head, "Wha?" he said, surprised that the human pup could talk in their langauge.
"Ok, sure. Well go ahead then," Loki said, still watching Fen carefully.

"Loki," Sadie said softly. "Lyna just said Fenris' name."

"Feh'ris!" Lyna repeated, standing up wobbily.

"I heard her," he breathed back. "It's kind of scary..."
Fenris eyed the child, a bit scared of her now.
All of the others also eyed the child carefully.

Lyna seemed oblivious to the dogs' unease, stumbling towards "Feh'ris", as she called him. She grinned, pleased with herself as she reached him, strocking his fur with a small hand.

Sadie was incredibly confused...and a little frightened. "How is that even possible?" she breathed.

"I'm not sure. Maybe the woman will know," he replied.
Fenris was uneasy, but let the toddler stroke his coal black fur.
"I wonder if she knows my name," Flint thought aloud.

"She could only know Fenris' name by understanding us," Sadie said thoughtfully. "She probably knows all of our names."

"Wow, maybe we could ask her who each of us are," Flint said, curious. "Who am I?" he woofed at the girl.
Loki wondered if she knew everyone's name yet, they hadn't said they're names around her before.

Lyna cocked her head, as if concentrating. "Fwin?" she asked, giggling.

Sadie couldn't help it; she gasped in surprise. Fwin sounded remarkable like Flint...could she really be responding to a question? That wasn't spoken in a human language?

"I'm more than a little scared now," Loki said to Sadie. "Do you think we should keep her, or still take her to that human in the woods?"
Flint wagged his tail, even though he realized that it was a bit scary that she could understand them. "What's their names?" he said, pointing at Sadie and Loki.

"Say'ee, 'Okee," Lyna replied, a bit more confidently.

Sadie's face was now a mask of shock. "I don't know," she said, in response to Loki. "I just don't know."

"Heh. Maybe she can understand us because..." Loki siad, groping for a reason, "she's young? I dunno, maybe they just pick up whatever language first?"
"What about those two?" Flint said, now pointing to Al and Abby. He was going to test her with all of the other canines.

Flint let out a small laugh, "What about them?" he said, pointing to the rest
Loki watched the child, fearing her more, with every time she spoke now.
