It's still a cartoon. Maybe it's early in the morning. Or maybe the producers thought that "midnight sun" occurs in the spring (instead of the summer, when there's no snow on the ground).

Personally, I think the animation of Balto's pace is spot-on with a real dog. Maybe his focus is not on his feet. But they still have a cartoon to make...and one that is being marketed to kids. They don't expect a bunch of teenagers and college-aged young adults to nitpick over little details like this.

Were you not just ranting about how huskies shouldn't be fat? I BELIEVE this is a KID'S movie and that it DOESN'T MATTER to them. I'm done here. You've just proven yourself once again. Congrats.

Tsk tsk. Such anger.

My WHOLE point in debating this is to get you Balto 1 nuts to realize that it's not this flawless epic. It's FULL of animation and art flaws. And let's not even GO into the inaccuracy of the storyline!

A person like myself can still use the cirumstances of the discussion to make a point, while still believing that it's JUST a cartoon, and that you people should not be debating this to the point of absurdity (which most of you HAVE...including YOU, Cat).

You are very welcome. What can I say? It just begged to be said!

And one other thing, since we all are talking about "flaws", there's one BIG flaw that led to the animation and the main story:

Balto (from what we know) was NEVER a wolfdog.

Which would mean that his looks are wrong, the fact that he was an outcast was wrong . . . etc., etc., etc. Blah.

So, there's something to think about before you think about the "bloopers/flaws/animation mistakes/etc." that annoy you so much - the film's version of the true story in itself is a big old mistake.

And I understand your point, GK and Cat. But why nit-pick? No one cares. Except maybe you two, but other than that, no one really cares. It's a movie, leave it alone or just remake it yourself. (I really don't want to fight about this. That would be pointless and stupid. It's about a movie, for Christ's sake.)

No, he never was.

But it being a "whole family" movie, if it was just based on fully the true story, then the movie would be pretty boring. No Jenna, and what would Balto 2 and 3 be? Balto finds a mate, has pups, and erm .. just no.

I am glad that they made Balto a wolfdog, and thanks to that, I've been more into wolves and wolfdogs. And him being a outcast, his looks, you know is just added and makes the movie more better and fun for the whole family.

But anyways,

I like everything in Balto. Their humans looked fine, their dogs looked .. okay. And the animation was perfect .. to me. Sure, bloopers - and all .. Background dogs might be alittle on the fat said, but look at Ralph and Kirby in Balto 3.

I very much agree with BaltoWolfdog over Balto being part wolf. Besides, the film was only based on a true story. It gave wolves a bit of good reputation anyway.

I disagree completely on that. The real story, if you actually take the time to study it, is the farthest thing from "pretty boring". Even giving the dogs human traits, as they did in the Balto cartoons, could enhance what is already a dramatic story.

Seriously...between the team's exposure to the Hollywood scene, to their vaudeville tour across the U.S., to their suffering internment in the dime-a-look museum, to their rescue by the Cleveland businessman and trek to Cleveland for a parade and a new home? How is ANY of that boring? I think it would have made a fantastic story to tell in animation, with humanized dogs. And the real Balto himself would have made a great animated character.

I agree with the first movie animation.....the other two suck!

The other two "suck"? What kind of an opinion is that? What do you base it on? Where's the intellectual argument or conclusion?
