aaaw thy're sooo cutte *cuddle cuddle* my first dog was a rottw, i simply looove them!!

I heard they could be really vicious and mean.

well that's a lie, it's the owner who makes the dog! a rottw is a very good family dog and has nothing evil in it, but it has temper and that's something people are using so they'll get mean, but they're not they're as kind as a labrador

I admit that it's unfair to judge all rottweilers as mean, but they do have a temper which is why they may not be the best house pets. I have met some very nice ones but I have also met some very ill-tempered ones that were treated just fine but for some reason were just plain mean. There wouldn't be any kind of stereotype of them being mean if it wasn't partially true.

I won't say that they are evil but I also won't say that they are the friendliest(did I spell that right?) dogs around.

well in Denmark we don't use them as protectors (or what ya call them so rottw in denmark are very nice and kind, and yes they can be very ill-tempered but that's not with the family but with strangers

But eventually they will encounter strangers in their life and then what's gonna happen?

I know dogs that were supposed to be "nice" but when they encountered new people they were horrible! I once was walking on a sidewalk in front of some houses when all of a sudden a dog jumps out the door and tried to attack me. Also, every so often on the news I see reports of dogs getting loose and attacking people; and guess which breed of dog it always is? About nine out of ten times it's a Rottweiler so there is some basis to them being notorious for being violent.

(note: I'm not saying that all are bad, but they don't help much to dispel that image)

They were bred for protecting, herding, and to pull roman carts. Actually, the Romans bred them for war. Agressive? Only when provoked. Cuddlebuddies? Always. I sleep with my Rott. You want to test me, go on. I have pictures.

All I am trying to say is that the breed itself can be very agressive. I didn't say that they were all mind-less blood-thirsty killers at all. I know very well that they can also be nice because I have met some nice ones.

Any dog can be agressive when provoked because(example) my dog is incredibly kind and gentle but like any other dog, if it feels provoked/in danger it will attack and I have the scars to prove it.

And by the way, I do not want to test ya because I don't want to start a flame/argument and I see no reason why I shouldn't believe ya.

Ok. Just making sure. Sorry if I, you know, sounded vicious. I protect my breed.

It's okay. I was kinda out of line too and for that I apologize.

I know this may be a little hard to believe after my last few messages but I really like Rottweilers/If ya saw my earlier posts then ya would notice that I never said whether or not I liked them. All I was trying to do show that they aren't just cuddly dogs all the time.

Yes! I love all dogs. They are wonderful creatures.
