Latest update upon what our little petition has gotten us into!! This is not an e-mail, but an actual letter that came through the post...along with our petition. :?

"We had been entertaining the idea of producing another Balto movie, but the sad truth is that not enough people bought the last one to make it attractive to produce another. You see, in order to be able to produce a film, we have to know enough people are interested in buying it to be able to pay for the cost and marketing.

We really like the Balto character and are pleased to know that there are people like you out there that are such big fans.
Get out!!!
My best regards,
DICTATED BUT NOT READ,

It was the last thing I expected to hear a reply today by mail. But the most puzzling thing about it all is why he sent back our petition. Well...he included free copies of Balto and Wolf Quest on DVD for me. :P Which was sincerely nice of him. XD

I find it ironic that we have 18 (Not excaggerating) LBT sequals and they won't make a Balto 4.

Exactly. After all, no matter how bad anyone thinks the Balto sequels are, they will always be better than some of the garbage that LBT dishes out.

The problem with LBT is they bring in the money because people are STILL buying them today, lol. They could afford one more Balto, and maybe bring in some of the older animation too!

Aren't animated movies rather low-budget anyway (no offense to the Balto movies intended)? I mean, there aren't any sets you need, all you really need are actors for voices and animators to draw. I've heard of a bunch of movies that didn't do that well but they still made a sequel because it would leave the fans of that movie dissappointed. If this guy went to this site and saw how many people are Balto fans, couldn't he just make a fourth one just to see how well that would do? It really shouldn't be that hard to make an animated movie anyway and Universal gets billions of dollars anyway from other movies, so if Balto 4 doesn't do that well, that would be only a small dent in their budget, wouldn't it?

No, traditonally animated films requires a lot of money on the contrary. More than 3D films in fact, and more than the average live action film.
If you want a proof, then just wonder why they aren't doing anymore traditionally animated film these days, only 3D...

Well, I still think that making the traditional animation films are more reliable than 3D. The computer generated movies in the making are subject to major technical problems like fatal errors, system crashes, etc. Also, It still doesn't make sense to me that computer generation costs less than regular animation. I think it would cost more to power 900 computers for about 10,000 hours a week (Please don't tell me that that's inaccurate, it's just a guess) than to pay a bunch of animators to use pencils and lights and colors. Besides, they can use the same animation sequences whenever they need to, and in computer generation, special effects are used all the time, and I know for a fact that those aren't cheap.

I know I would buy if they were to make a new movie but that most likely wont happen.

Well, with 3D you don't need to redraw the characters : you only make the models, that you can re-use within all the film, and this is even easier to make sequels then. You can re-use many elements. Computers are more and more powerful so with the years, it requires a smaller number of computers to generate 3D. Many effects are automatic, while for 2D you need to draw each frame of an effect. Etc etc...
