Adam:: He stood and followed like an obedient child. He sat in the chair next to his bed. You can sleep in here. He said, knowing that she probably already knew that. Knocking at the door attracted Butch and made him bark really loud. Adam stood, One second. He said and walked to the front door, a slender man handing off the subs to him. Adam pulled out 30 dollars. Keep the change. He said and the man nodded. Adam shut the door and walked to the bedroom, handing Sarah one of the subs and putting the other one down in his chair. I have to run this up to Sage. He said and turned back, going up the stairs and looking at Sage. Sage. He said, looking at the notebook. Adam picked it up and read what he had wrote. Adam shook his head, putting the notebook away and sitting at the corner of Sage's bed. Sage waking up and looking at him. Adam handed him the sub and left without saying anything to him. Sage unwrapped it, taking a bite and chewing it slowly. Adam went back down to the bedroom. What did you want to talk about? He unwrapped it and took a bite.

Adam:: He took a moment to think about the questions. Most of them almost made him laugh. Almost. Yes, yes, yes, I'll have to think about it, and I don't know. He said, chewing on the rest of the sub. He had a mini fridge right beside his bed. He opened it, pulling out a beer for himself. He wasn't a drinker but he had one every once in a while. Adam took a sip and relaxed a bit more. He had a white dress shirt on, tucked into dress pants. He also had dress shoes on. Adam always worked like he was in an office. He liked dressing respectable. Adam relaxed a lot, letting his head fall back some. He looked at Sarah. Is that really what you want to talk about? He said, standing up and sitting on the bed. He didn't know what to do. Adam rubbed his neck and looked away from her.

Adam:: He relaxed fully as she worked out the tight muscles in his neck, back, and arm. Adam felt like he had died and went to heaven! That's from working for long periods of time with no rest. He said, looking over his shoulder at her. He shook his head. No, Joseph is my real name. He said, not sure if she could be working for anyone who might want to know that kind of stuff. He waited a minute. Butch was snoring on the couch, sleeping like a baby. What did you want to talk about then? He asked her, hoping she wouldn't choose a stupid topic. Adam could hear Jinx upstairs walking around on the hardwood floors and such. Jinx had some long nails that needed to be clipped back. He didn't enjoy it but he would co-operate when it was time to do that. Adam thought of a bunch of other stuff, tensing back up a little bit. He lay back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling fan.

Adam:: He moved her, sitting up. Adam stood, I'm going to check on Sage. He said, walking to the stairwell. When Adam got to the first step he took a moment, rubbing his head. Finally he began up the stairs, Jinx already at the top, looking down at him. When Adam reached the top and got to Sage's room, he was already finished eating and asleep. Adam smiled and flicked the light back off. He went to the upstairs bathroom and went in. Shutting the big door behind him. Adam scratched the back of his head, pacing. He didn't know what to do with Sarah but he knew he couldn't be liking her already. He shook his head, wishing everything could go back to the way it was before he even knew her name. Adam looked at himself in the mirror, he looked so tired and worn out.

Adam took a few more minutes before coming back downstairs and walking into the kitchen. He grabbed a glass and filled it with water, drinking some before laying down on the couch. Grabbing a pillow and repositioned himself so it was more comfy. He didn't need a blanket. A few hours later, Adam awoke to Sage creeping down the stairs. "Sage." He said, sitting up. The young boy looked over at his father and walked over,
"Dad, I thought you were asleep." Sage said, sitting down in a chair.
"I was." He said, turning over onto his back and sitting up slightly. "What's wrong?" He said, not knowing what he was coming downstairs for.

Sage looked at his father, "Dad. Do you like her?" Sage asked, scratching his head and slouching in his seat. Adam shrugged, "I can't say yes and I can't say no." He said simply, Sage grinning.
"Would you say maybe?" He asked just to be funny.
"I might." Adam joked, looking at his watch. "It's half past 2, you need to get back up there to sleep." He said. Rubbing his eyes. Sage shook his head, "She was in there." He said, looking at his dad with a serious face. Adam sat up, looking at his son; "Who?" Just then, Jinx came down the stairs and walked over to his food dish, sniffing at it.
"Mom's ghost. It was in there, I saw it." Sage said rapidly. Adam shook his head, "Probably just you dreaming. Now get upstairs and get some rest kiddo." He said, laying his head back down. Sage got to his feet and walked over to his dad, hugging him, wanting to know that he wasn't alone just because his mom died.

Adam lay his head down, finally getting back into his dream world. He didn't dream much but when he did it was almost the same thing every day, it annoyed him sometimes but he learned things from it. It was always of his wife, telling him what time to get Sage up and what to say to him sometimes when he didn't know what to say at all. She really helped out a lot.
