Agreed. This should be locked.

Just because you guys don't like the idea, doesn't mean we should lock it. I think it's the best idea in the world. Better than Balto 2, anyway, and we haven't locked any topics there.

The first poster didn't mean to say it was going to happen; it was merely a question as to whether or not it sounded like a good idea.

Agreed. It should not be locked because of differing opinions. That's the point of debating, I should dare to say.

I was reacting more to the latest few posts, not the OP.

And just because a handful of us believed that BALTO 4 would happen but wouldn't doesn't mean someone had to lock that either. Might as well report this since THEY WILL NEVER DO ANOTHER BALTO PROJECT AGAIN!...

Seriously, let it go. Balto and anime wouldn't work even if we wanted it to. What would it even be about? See?...

Um first off, calm your freaking face. It's just Balto. The subject isn't sensitive. Second, you didn't even try to answer your own question. Allow me to answer, since you're so good at missing previous posts. This is what a balto anime would be about, Sherlock.

Baltosuke the wolfdog has lived a hard life being trained by his wolf father Kotsubarusansama. But Baltosuke wanted to become a sleddog, but his father told him that it would shame the family! Disobeying Kotsubarusansama's orders, Baltosuke goes into the marvelous Nome City where he meets the most beautiful husky girl in all the land, Jennako. They fall in love instantly. Baltosuke learns of a racing battle tournament being held by the evil mayor of Nome City and enters the tournament, where he meets his larger, stronger rival Steelemaru! They fight and Steelemaru deems Baltosuke as a worthy opponent. Then there is a sudden Diphtheria outbreak throughout the city, where people shows signs of turning into zombies, where they maul, eat people, gush blood and guts, and explode! It's terrible! The evil mayor of Nome City refuses to send for help, and even kidnaps Baltosuke's true love Jennako! But Steelemaru ventures off on his own, declining Baltosuke's help. Baltosuke learns that Steelemaru has become lost, so Baltosuke builds an entire army of sled dogs to go after him and save him! Where they meet Kotsubarusansama, who is incredibly disappointed in his foolish son! They fight to the death and there's lots of blood and Baltosuke, through the power of love, defeats his father, and shares a very touching goodbye with his rival Steelemaru! Baltosuke has a long journey back to Nome City and saves the people and becomes a hero, and the evil mayor is defeated and that's the TRUE STORY OF BALTO!

I think this should happen, who agrees with me??

It's better, and if you don't think so, you obviously have no eye for art.

Besides, there's a buttload of fan fictions on the forum and we all know THOSE aren't gonna happen, maybe we should do without them. There's a buttload of fan projects trying to make another balto movie and we know THOSE aren't gonna happen. Maybe we should lock those too. It saves the trouble. Heck, let's just not have anything that may or may not be a possibility even be allowed in the forums. Let's only talk about what's in the balto movies already. I'm sure we'll not run short of discussions.

And is the word "special" supposed to be misspelled like that in your signature?

I still think that anime, being a much different type of art (and not always "art" so much as convoluted plot lines with sometimes unnecessarily heavy and wordy dialogue. Dialogue which is usually spoken as a rapid, annoying run-on sentence when it is translated...at least in English if not other languages), wouldn't necessarily work or be something that I could see as enjoyable or even much of a worthwhile exercise.

But everyone has their favorite forms of animation. There certainly are more than enough anime fans (and a fair share of anime nutcases...lol) on this site alone. Most of them being fans of what, to most western lay people, is extraordinarily obscure and thematically strange.

Will it happen? I think not. At best, perhaps some hardcore Japanese manga artist will make a manga of the Balto movie (or the serum run story), if it hasn't been already.

I actually like the idea of an anime version of Balto, if only because there might be a chance to expand the storyline a little with the use of more mature themes (heavier violence, etc). I don't believe there have been many animes involving dogs recently--Wolf's Rain and Ginga being the only two I know of--but it would be nice to see one.

There's a surprising amount of anime out there about dogs (when i say "dogs" i include wolves) already. Massugu Ni Ikou is childish and cute, and it aimed toward.... teenagers? I dunno. It's actually the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. Spice and Wolf, tho Holo doesn't take on the form of a wolf, is one. The Tibetan Dog, tho I've never had an opportunity to watch it, as at least animated beautifully. (and now Tibetan mastiff's are one of my favorite dogs to draw haha) Arashi no Yoru Ni is an adorable, and surprisingly suspenseful one. The Dog of Flanders, that isn't about Patrasche, but the movie revolves around him. Wolf's Rain is just the only good one I know of that pretty much has anything both anime lovers and non-anime lovers want tho xD (that's probably because it was made by the same folks who made Cowboy Bebop, which has A dog in it xD)

And usually by "mature" people don't always refer to violence >> Philosophy is a nice MATURE touch to anime that people don't always explore in western cartoons, even in adult western cartoons.

^ Thanks for the info, Cat. I've always wanted to get into anime, but I couldn't find anything to hold my interest. I'll have to look into those at some point.

Because that's exactly what the fictional Balto, in loosely representing the REAL Balto, Togo and the other actual dogs of the 1925 Nome serum run, and the heroism of that story, have been lacking, huh? An infusion of raw, bloody, gory violence...a caustic and vitriolic celebration of battery, blood-letting, aggression and every other danged negative thing.

But hey -- why stop there? A dog character voiced by Hugh Heffner, and another by Britney Spears! Wwwwowsers!

----------

Eeyeah...obviously heavy sarcasm here. Because I find the notion of the Balto franchise with more "mature themes" to be outlandish. The heroes of the real serum run must be rolling over in their graves... *face palm*

Lol, I actually facepalmed while reading the post you quoted.

And I completely agree with you, the idea of the Balto franchise having more mature themes is utterly ridiculous.
(no offense to Origamist)

I never said anything about the Balto franchise/universe in itself. I was talking about adding more "heavier" themes into it, ones you wouldn't normally find in a kids' movie. It's just that things like violence generally come along with heavier plots.
