Krystalia decided to wait a while after the assassin left before leaving. Should I go after the assassin to kill him?... It would give me an excuse to stay near Hobbes... I don't want to stay so far away from him... Her thoughts wandered along this general train of thought until she drifted off to sleep amongst the wolves.

Hobbes glanced back. I wonder when I'll see Krystalia again... he thought, he started to stare into space until he heard Addanc's voice.

"Hobbes! There is no time for daydreaming when you are tracking. You have to have your wits about you." she growled.

Balan grinned in the shadows. "What wits Addanc?" he whispered.

I think I'll go after him... If he gets hurt because of me I'd never forgive myself... Krystalia and Sugarfoot began to pack and ready themselves for the journey and inevitable fight.

Hobbes turned his horse around and saw the man again.

"What do you want?" Addanc snarled at the man.

Balan frowned. "What's wrong Addanc? Arn't you happy to see me?" Balan asked, and trotted closer on his horse.

Krystalia and Sugarfoot raced to catch up to Hobbes. When they did, Krystalia was forced to muffle a gasp. She did not expect to see the assassin talking to Hobbes and Addanc. She strung her bow in case Hobbes needed her help, but remained hidden in the shadows to prevent herself and Sugarfoot from being spotted. "Be ready in case we need to flee," she whispered in her loyal mount's ear.

Hobbes narrowed his eyes. "Get out of here. We have important buisness." he snarled, his hand resting on his hip, were he kept a small dagger sheathed, and was hidden by his cloak.

Addanc's hand went to her sword that was sheathed at her side. "Don't. Move." she growled.

Balan was slightly surprised that Addanc would pull a sword on him. "What imprtant buisness boy?" Balan asked, turning to face Hobbes.

Krystalia was listening to the conversation intently. Don't spill anything Hobbes... Please... You're smarter than that... She still had her bow ready just in case.

"None of your concern." Hobbes spat at Balan.

Addanc said nothing, but gripped her sword hilt.

Balan grinned twistedly. "Then if you won't tell me, I will have to make you tell me." He growled, and lunged at Hobbes, using the saddle gor a boost. Hobbes yelped as Balan tackled him to the ground.

Hobbes had the wind knocked out of him. But he wasn't weak. He struggled to pin Balan, but he wasn't weak either.

I've got one shot at this... I have to hit the right person... Hobbes hold still... Well as much as you can... Krystalia used her inner ramblings to focus her thoughts before losing her arrow at Balan. She heard a grunt that didn't come from Hobbes. Yes! That's two now! Take that you big, tough assassin! "Alright Sugarfoot, let's move locations quickly and quietly before they catch us. But, we still need to be able to watch over Hobbes." Krystalia buried the pull at her heartstrings the last sentence caused to focus on the task at hand. They began relocating, and Krystalia leaned over the back of her saddle to brush away their tracks with a branch as they went.

Hobbes rolled away from Balan. He glanced in the direction the arrow had came from. Krystalia. he thought, and sent a silent thanks.

Addanc looked around wildly. Who shot that arrow?

Balan howled in pain, he quickly fled the scene. He fell beside a tree and wripped the arrow from his leg. Swearing and grunting in pain, he looked around. That was twice he was shot.

When they were safely relocated and hidden once again, Krystalia began writing another note to Hobbes:


After she had finished composing her letter, Krystalia secured it under the wing of a sparrow. "Please take a route that will not give away our current location," she asked the sparrow. "Evasive maneuvers will be necessary to throw Addanc off your trail on your way back. Oh, and please wait to give Hobbes the message until Addanc is not looking. We don't want her to become suspicious. Thank you!" Krystalia gave the sparrow a little push up into the air to help him on his way as he took off.

Hobbes fell on his back and sighed loudly. He glanced at Addanc, who was staring in the direction the arrow came from. Hobbes grinned. Addanc will never catch her, She's to smart. Hobbes thought. "I wonder who that was," Hobbes remarked as if he didn't know. "They have really good aim. Who ever it was, they saved my skin."

Addanc nodded absently. "I think we should go a little further, then set up camp," she said, then glanced at Hobbes. "Are you fit to travel?"

Hobbes snorted. Of course he is! If that little skirmish kept him down, he would never become a knight! "Yes Addanc, I am quite alright." he said, and swiftly hopped on his horse.

Krystalia and Sugarfoot followed Hobbes as closely as they could. I hope the sparrow returns with a note soon... I miss him... Sugarfoot snorted to make Krystalia stop daydreaming and pay attention. "Sorry," she whispered to him, "this is kinda knew for me..." Sugarfoot rolled his eyes at her.

Addanc didn't reply, but trotted ahead on her horse. As soon as that happend, a sparrow flew from a low branch, and fluttered around Hobbes's head. Hobbes held out his finger, and the sparrow perched on it. He saw a not sticking out of it's wing, so he pulled it out, and read it. He quickly took a peice of parchment out of his knapsack along with a writing utencil. He quickly scribbled down a note that said:



He stuffed the parchment under the sparrow's wing, and whispered to it to take it to Krystalia. The sparrow immediatly flew from his finger into the dense woods.

Addanc rode ahead, and glanced back at Hobbes, who was now urging his horse to go faster to catch up with her. When he caught up to her he slowed down. "Sorry Addanc, the old boy was a little tired." Hobbes said, and patted between the horse's ears. Addanc nodded in responce. "Just be careful. We don't want that situation to happen again." she warned.

Krystalia's face lit up when she saw the sparrow coming back. She read Hobbes's letter instantly. Well that was formal... I hope it was just because I'm a princess... I would never go home if it was because he didn't find me attractive... Krystalia's mind continued to wander as Sugarfoot followed Hobbes and she covered their tracks.
