"Kat?" Alfred called outm shivering as he looked into the car. He looked around ,then looked up to see her.
"Kat! Please come down! Im sooooorrry!"

No you're not... She thought sourly.
"I'm not...Upset..." She lyed, only not as smoothly this time. She climbed a bit higher asthe pain attacked her chest. "I-I don't want to talk. Okay?" She said through tears she knew he couldn't see.

"Kat stop lying to me! I know you better than that! Please! You've never let something like this get between us before!" He cried, kicking the tree angrily.
"Why wont you talk to me!?"

Kat swallowed a lump in her throat and looked down at him quickly.
"Because Alfred..." you never 'accidentally' kissed me! she wanted to scream at him, but held her tongue. Kat was smarted than that, she'd never admit it, no matter what. She had too much pride.
"I...miss my parents..." She lyed, but it sounded beievable. "and...with Arthur here...I dunno..It seems like it's gonna be harder for us to be friends..." Kat said, trying to whip up another reason.

"Why!? He's just another friend!" Alfred countered, shivering again. Gosh, it was cold out here.

Kat shot her gaze to the miles and miles of country that stretched beyond the city.
"He's just another friend..." Kat muttered to herself with a low chuckle "Have you ever heard the expression 'three's a crowd'? I don't like crowds Alfred. You of all people should know that." Kat said tightly. Hopfully he'd buy it.

"So are you saying i can't be friends with him..?" Alfred asked sadly. Was she really asking him to choose? This was so not like Kat..

"No Alfred, i'd never do that to you." She said through clenched teeth. "He's just...Gonna' hurt you...And I don't want that to happen..." Her voice was low.

Alfred frowned down at his shoes. "Well..christmas break started yesterday.." He mused randomly. "Maybe this year you could stay with me for christmas?" Alfred asked, being careful not to say 'us'. He shuffled his feet nervously.

Arthur sat in the kitchen, listening to Michael Buble on the radio, Cold december Night was playing. He loved that song, but didn't dare sing when Alfred could walk in at any moment.

Kat wedged herself in a Y shaped corner in the tree and clenched her fists. She was still hurt, too hurt to say yes.
"Give me time...I need to think about it." She said stiffly.

"But we always hang out on saturdays.." Alfred objected. "I'll buy more Mickie D's!" Bribery worked..sometimes, right?

Arthur sang along quietly to himself.
"So please just fall in love with me this christmas, there's nothing else that I will need, this christmas, Won't be wrapped under a tree..kiss me on this cold december night.."

"Go. AWAY!" Kat yeled, not trusting herself if her stayed anylonger. She knew she'd breakdown if he stayed, she just knew it.

Alfred winced, holding up his hands.
"okay.." He said quietly, turning and slowly walking off.

Kat's hands shook as he walked away. She squeezed her eyes shut and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Thank you." She said, not sure if he could hear her.

Alfred fought back more tears when he left and once home slammed the door shut. Arthur perked and frowned.
"I take it, it didn't go well?" He asked, taking a long sip of his tea. Alfred shook his head and sighed.
"Noope."
