I'm going to try my hand at designing what Sye and Alaska Slim might have looked like, since I've been looking up pictures of the team (and I'm having a hard time telling who is who). xD
Any thoughts on what they might have looked like/qualities they might have possessed? I know that Sye was the youngest. I picture him as being the dog with the floppy ears, since I noticed that one or maybe two of the team members have floppy ears. Can't find much about Alaska Slim though, but I'm thinking that he was probably one of the thinner dogs because of the name he holds. i dunno

I found it a little hard to tell which dog was which in many of the photos, but I did see a few saddle-backs. In a nutshell Sacco is pretty old (hence he retires form Cade's team to give Spica a spot, thus the two shall never mix), he could also be the biggest on the team. He totally lacks a lead-dog's personality, which is why he'd make a poor candidate for such a spot. Sacco doesn't like a lot of change, thus he always likes to be in the same spot. He's a very lovable and dependable old sport, though. He and Old Moctoc would probably be friends. He's also pretty gullible. He's very nice, Eska! I can certainly use him! Lady_Jenna wrote: So what do you need JC? Bios, character designs what? I need to get creative so anything you need done i can do I also have a base bio for Fox...if you want me to PM if to you or Cat Well if you would like to try and design some of the dogs for the remaining open slots (let's stick with males now), that'd be great! Or you can attempt one or more of the remaining historical dogs which haven't already been done (or aren't planned, as in Lucky's case). Or both! Use the real photos of both teams as reference (Togo's is primarily what needs filling at this point). The photos are in that topic that introduces my Togo, Balto and Fritz fan characters, on p.2. Meanwhile, if you could PM to me that stuff you have on Fox, that'd be great! Thanks! I always imagined Sye as an exuberant, eager, and enthusiastically happy-go-lucky young dog who's also a touch goofy (shades of Star maybe? LOL). It's telling considering that, in the end, in the Cleveland Brookside Zoo, he was the last of the team to pass, and spent his final year alone in the pen, mourning his lost team members (howling and pining). He was only a bit younger than Balto...who was the last to pass before Sye. So it will make that much more of an impact, I think, when the time comes to do that fan fiction, for Sye to have such a personality. As to Alaska Slim? lol Your guess is as good as mine on the photos (then again, that'd be the case with almost all of them)!

That is fantastic work, Cat, as usual! Er...but if you read back, Eska said the following regarding Cade (much to my disappointment, though I respect her decision): Eska wrote: I don't think Cade is gonna work- seeing as he is going to have relations with Spica of some kind or another. Even if he thinks she's an annoying insect- he's gonna know her. Sacco will work great~ Meh. Hope you don't mind nixing him from the line up. I already did from the team line ups above... But again, AMAZING work! (Er...my only criticism would be whether or not there'd be any way to make Scotty look more masculine, as in his actual photograph, and less, well...foo-foo sweetsy cutesy bunny bunny...-ish. heh.)

Thanks! You may want to bring that up with the version of Scotty I was working with LOL He was awfully cutesy in that reference. (Not the photo reference.) But yeah, I'll just re-use Cade's lines for another character. I totally missed that Cade wasn't gonna work.

I just thought the result in the great art you just did made him appear a bit feminine is all.

According to his obituary article, Sye was 17 years old when he died in 1934. Born in either 1916 or 1917. So he was most likely one of the oldest dogs on the team. Two years older than Balto anyway.
Hope this helps.

Lucky,
With regard to Sye, since there is no documentation I have been able to find which singles out one dog or another in Balto's team (visually), I would like to encourage you to use your imagination, also using the photos I have posted elsewhere, of Balto's team, as a reference guide. This will, after all, be a fictionalized version of the real team, and a little freedom of movement (given what little historical verification is out there) is expected and, as far as I am concerned -- within the confines of this situation -- acceptable.
Don't worry about anything else.
